So I heard that apparently the Axis powers won WW2 in this alternate timeline. So how does that work exactly? Does this mean there are Jews in the background setting getting murdered in concentration camps or are they all already extinct?

Well, obviously "that point" will take a bit longer than episode 1. But if you really want to know the speed of the progression.

Presuming normal speed (4 eps per volume), I would expect this:

o Stella is at his throat in ep1 (understandably though)
o She will be taken aback and curious at the beginning of ep2, and on a friendship level end of ep2
o She will be angry/jealous at him in ep3 (again, for a good reason), and he'll be heartbroken over her reaction
o She will have an _amazing_ scene which amounts to a public confession in ep4, rekindling his spirit in a crisis
o He will do one of the smoothest, and most genuine counter-confessions evah in ep4
o They end volume 1 as (secret) couple, sealed with a kiss on his cheek
o During volume 2, after some initial mutual frustration about lack of progress between each other, they correct the placement of the kisses. Relationship solidifies.
o From volume 3, I'll only list one scene. Stella is slightly feverish, but fully aware. This warrants another spoiler level, because this is NSFW. It also demonstrates the kind of person Ikki is.

"Hey Ikki… do you want to… do it with me?"

Ikki's eventual response: "Stella, I love you, and I want to say so proudly in front of everyone. Shizuku and Alice of course, and even people we don't know… even Stella's parents. I think these feelings inside me are the most wonderful emotions. But… if our relationship changes like this right now, I think I would feel guilty in front of your parents. I think I should stand proudly in front of them."

Both Stella and Ikki had mature bodies. It wasn't like there was any fear of what others might think. But still―Ikki thought there was a proper procedure for such important things. Stella was a precious treasure raised by her parents. If he would get involved, he had to at least greet them. He thought that was rather expected of a man.

Suddenly, Stella entwined her fingers with Ikki's. She gave a firm smile with her feverish expression.

She apologized to Ikki. That expression was feverish and hot, but it wasn't just from illness.

In truth, Stella hadn't been thinking of Ikki as much as he had been thinking of her. Stella had only been looking only at Ikki in front of her, but Ikki had been looking toward the people in her background, as well as keeping the relationship between them going into the future in mind as well.

It―made her very happy. Because he was thinking so seriously about their relationship, treating it as something important.

I say that, but… what was I doing!?

Just by taking off her clothes a little, from getting a little excited, she had forgotten her chastity. Not just today. It kept happening recently. A unicorn would shun such a maiden.

Ikki is more like a maiden, isn't he?

In other words, yes, there is significant, fast development. Do _not_ judge Stella merely on episode 1, where she will initially seem like every other run-of-the-mill tsundere due to her anger. From episode 2 on, you'll quickly realize that she is very different (and actually, pretty amazing)

Haak: The WW2 aspect plays exactly _zero_ role as far as I've read (up to vol3). Some people just looooove to stir the sh*tpot.

Where is the problem in a fictional story? Essentially, the only time this was even mentioned was to introduce a national hero ("guiding Japan to victory in WW2"). That is all. The story makes no attempt of revisionist history or something.

One either has to be completely clueless or really malicious to bring this up as a point against the show.

You saw it too, right? The anons are hung up on the 'generic' summary and the whole 'Japan won WW2' thing.

I guess people can see this as generic, but can't they at least give it the 3-episode rule?

That said, I only hope that when the first episode comes, some of the viewers will admit that they were wrong about their expectations.

IMS was better in Shinmai Maou than Twintails, which looked like some scenes were done in MS Paint. Still, that's a main concern for many, because we don't know if their next series would be Twintail'd too.
