Hoho, Trojan horses and Kung Fu Rin. That was something to really enjoy.

As a Fate/Stay Night Veteran we can't confirm or deny if speculation is correct or wrong.
Confirming or denying speculation before the anime has done it would count as a spoiler.

Veteran shouldn't even be in this thread, we can too easily ruin ruin a New Viewers experience by an uncareful comment.

Yeah, even as someone who has never played the visual novel, I've found myself having to tread carefully in this thread, 1: because Fate/Zero spoiled a fair amount of stuff from the visual novel (though most of the things spoiled are irrelevant to UBW), and 2: I'm really bad at avoiding spoilers so I've had several plot-points of this show spoiled ahead of time too... Thankfully, by this point most of the stuff I was spoiled on has come to pass, so I genuinely don't know what's going to happen next week and the weeks following it.

Episode 18...
Huh, so that is the "Unlimited Blade Works" from which the series gets its name... Honestly, I expected more. Archer had better use that attack again before this is all over and give us a more impressive showing or else his ultimate attack just utterly pales compared to everything else we've seen him do. I did enjoy Shirou managing to replicate the swords Archer was attacking him with as he was attacking him with them though. Oh, and Rin making a contract with Saber, that was really cool. I sort of worked out that that might be what she would do roughly five seconds before she did it, so that also added a bit of extra satisfaction in that I managed to guess it right.

You do have to hope there is another showing of that ability. The world itself looked cool to be sure, but they basically cut out all the action once we hit that point. Thanks Shirou for passing out so all we get is a few sword strikes and then him regaining consciousness with Rin already captured.

Story moves ahead though to be sure.

The pendant..... Of course! It was so obvious!
Jokes aside, awesome episode. Archers Noble Phantasm seems a bit underpowered I really hope we will see it again. Althought tehy may want to skip the invocation the next time, that was just awkward. And Saber finally got out of that horrible dress, thank Haruhi.
Thinking about it my: "Archer is Shirous ancestor"-theory was pretty close.

I loved how they revealed it without actually explicitly saying that Archer is Shirou's future self. Pretty cool.

And Rin....oh God, Rin. ;__;

They did in Episode 19. Archer called himself "Heroic Spirit EMIYA".

Episode 19

That was such an amazing setup for an epic battle in episode 20.
Shinji is a real asshole and that punch should be as celebrated as Tyrions smacking of Geoffrey. Also Rin continues to collect badass-points, just beeing disgusted and annoyed by threats of torture and death. I wonder where Blondie is though? (I lost track, can we use his real name yet?)

I'm pretty sure he has already revealed his name.

I meant like explicitly explicitly say it like how usual anime dialogue goes.

The stuff Archer was talking about with being a "guardian" seems a bit out of nowhere since I don't think it was introduced earlier in the anime.

Blame the Aniplex translators. It was touched upon in episode 13, but there it was called "Protectors" for some reason.

Best part of the episode, I thought. Long time coming, but totally worth it!

This is a series that shouldn't be watched without having a bunch of episode at one's disposal. This entire episode was a giant tease.
