Boruto's return to the village was way better than his father's. No doubt he has actually gotten a shit ton stronger, unlike Naruto back then.

Shikamaru being Hokage feels wrong. Bringing back Kakashi like what happened with Sarutobi after Minato died would have made more sense. Shikamaru is nowhere near strong enough to be Hokage material.
The manga completely ignores the anime and Sarada is still a genin there, even after three years which honestly doesn't make much sense.

The art hasn't improved a bit. Ikemoto's fashion sense is really terrible, with Sarada dressing like a whore and Kawaki wearing pants very ill-suited to fighting. Proportions are all wrong in several panels. Fire this dude, seriously.

Now that you say it, I think this author never drew Kakashi. I remember that already back in the Gaiden about Sarada, Kakashi said he retired or something as I think he avoided working even in the anime episodes.

Boruto's design is probably the coolest Ikemoto has ever drawn though it kinda incorporates Sasuke's clothing and even chokuto sword. I hope the fights involve this use of weaponry. Also, that monster felt like Frieza but without a face

Well, we saw multiple times that Konoha information control is good.

Especially during Kabuto flashback, where Danzo effectively ruined Kabuto hope for better future, followed by Orochimaru explained to him that Danzo is quick to dispose anyone who know too much. I imagine it applied to every case in Konoha that need extra secrecy (Jinchuriki, Uchiha Massacre); openly talking about it in public or trying to dig deeper is your ticket to get a visit from ANBU.

Kakashi and Yamato are former ANBU, after all, it fit.

Then again, Kakashi didn't become Hokage for skills but leadership especially since he already lost the Sharingan which made him a monster in combat. Shikamaru is also recognized for his leadership skills over power but obviously he was selected in worst time.

Even without Sharingan, Kakashi was still stronger than anyone in Konoha besides Naruto and Sasuke. Losing his Sharingan didn't make him forget the hundreds of jutsus he copied. He even came up with his purple lightning technique to make up for his lack of Sharingan. He's in another league compared to Shikamaru, whose most noteworthy contribution in Boruto was... being taken hostage?

If not Kakashi, Sakura would have been a better choice, but I guess she might suffer prejudice because her husband defected (again).

Ah, we're back to absolutely nothing happening in the chapters. I thought Boruto's return was cool last week but he's basically become the personification of the "nothing personnel" meme.

Only saw one page. Apparently, Boruto and Kawaki still aren't that big enemies. When Kawaki sees him, he makes fun of his look coming across as Sasuke's adopted son. Boruto is glad his rebellious tongue is the same and that he still took care of Himawari in the past three years.

Still, that's only one page. Maybe the bigger context is different

Kawaki tries to goad Boruto into fighting him about 3 times during the chapter, but Boruto's seems to be 100% focused on Code and the 10 Tails and simply deflects all of Kawaki's barbs.

Uzuhiko is like Gold Experience Requiem level of bullshit. I hope Boruto lied about how it truly works in order to make Code desperate enough to unleash the 10 tails and thus reveal its location.

Either way, it feels like Boruto could kick anyone's ass easily. I was glad he came back stronger than his father did after his own timeskip (man, what a disappointment that was), but he became way too strong.

I hadn't thought much of Boruto using a toad last month, but it was actually meant to hint Kashin Kouji trained him too since that wasn't something Sasuke could have taught him. Not sure how he mastered Minato's hiraishin though.

Anyway, we know what happened to Sasuke now. The new baddies have rather lame designs, and Boruto canceling Uzuhiko on Code was pretty dumb. It was obvious Code would run away instead of helping. I'm not sure what's the point of keeping him around from a narrative standpoint since he's boring as shit and he's been completely surpassed by Boruto.

So, trying to figure out who the other two bad guys are using as a base. We know one is the old guy (Bug, I think his name was?), and one looked to be Sasuke. That actually kind of ruined the final twist, since it was clear that one that caught Boruto's attention not only looked like Sasuke, but also used something resembling Chidori.

For the other two, there was some other young guy who did most of the talking, and a girl who kind of resembled the android that fell in love with Eida? I dunno, I feel like we're supposed to know who they are, but this series is so all over the place it's hard to tell.

The one who did the talking looks like Isshiki, but Code would have mentioned if he was actually supposed to look like him. I think he and the girl are just random people that were turned into trees during the timeskip.

So Sasuke effectively sacrificed himself to Code and the Grimes. The fact that Code needed help to beat a rinnegan-less Sasuke and still got a bad scar out of it makes it hard to count this as a W for him.

Hopefully Sarada will now get the chance to do something and become a more active part of the plot.

So it looks like the new bad guys want to devour the person their "host" loves the most, which makes me wonder who's the Isshiki looking guy. I guess he could motivated by hatred in his case and he's really Isshiki.

The flashback didn't show the most important part, which is how Boruto met Kashin Koji.

See, I took it the other way. Rather than being a bad look for Code, I felt it was a bad look for Sasuke. Even without the Rinnegan, he was still like the second strongest person we knew of, and all he could do was cut down some juubi spawn before being overwhelmed? And yet, we've now seen Boruto completely overwhelm them without even breaking a sweat.

So either there was much, MUCH more context to that fight that they left out (and shouldn't have because it makes Sasuke look weak as hell), or they're jobbing Sasuke so much harder than anyone could've expected.

It's easy to forget since he constantly jobs but Code is supposed to be stronger than Jigen, who wiped the floor with both Naruto and Sasuke at their full power.

Meh, they can say what they want, he's never shown to be even remotely close to that powerful. And since they haven't, I'll continue to assume he's actually not really all that much of an enemy, and Sasuke jobbed here.

So at this point can we just declare Sarada a lost cause? She reacted more to hugging Boruto than news about her own dad.

I want to give Kawaki the benefit of doubt and just say Mitsuki got the jump on him, because otherwise we're in a situation where all the antagonists except potentially the new ones are complete jokes.
