The flashback from this episode always stuck with me, because Frieren basically telling Himmel and the rest that their acknowledgement doesn't matter because they'll soon be dead was very cruel. Himmel made an incredibly sad face in the manga after she said that, but they changed it in the anime.
Anyway, her drastically different reaction when Fern told her the same thing Himmel did shows how much she's grown since then once again.

It also shows how she really felt about Himmel and the party praising her at the time .

Supersonic bird was definitely a funny surprise, as was that night monster. This world is definitely harsh on the typical human being. I'm surprised that there are carriages roaming around on the road without full escort.

Fern and Ubel being paired up... does that mean we get to see T2000-Fern again in the near future?

The first test's rules seem to be specifically set so that a trio doesn't kill each other, but I'm surprised that group vs group assault hasn't started yet. The post-credit preview sound promising on that part.

Only about a day has passed, and we've only seen the perspective from Frieren's team so far.

There's no reason for another team to attack them yet when they don't have a Stille to steal.

I completely understand Freiren's "I'm so done with all this attitude". Not only is it frustrating she even has to get the certification, but she also gets stuck with partners that spend most of their time fighting.

Freiren gets used to Fren and Stark's bickering, she she is fine with these two. Especially, one girl criticizing other girl by saying her smiling face is cute.

Seriously though, does no one in the city recognize who she is? Or do they think she's some rookie who's just named after the mage from the hero's famous party?

A couple of points:

• Frieren has not been shown to be especially memorable amongst the general population in previous episodes - she doesn't try to stand out for a start and Himmel got almost all the fame it seems. It's generally only when it's someone that the hero party specifically helped before or their direct descendants. This doesn't tell us how well known she is known amongst mages though.
  
• Humans are certainly aware that elves are rare but there hasn't yet been anything suggesting that they are aware of just how rare elves are (almost extinct). So there's nothing to suggest that humans would think "female elf mage = Frieren the mage from the hero party".
  
• Towards the end of the first half of the episode there were some comments on Frieren by two officials from the exam but they didn't know her name either (at least at the time), which indicates that the examinees don't necessarily know the names of the others. We also saw multiple examinees introduce themselves to each other, further suggesting that they didn't know each others names in advance. For example, the examinees in general didn't freak out over seeing Ubel, despite her having killed a 1st class mage in a previous exam. If the normal examinees weren't going to comment on her (out loud at least) I think they'd be less likely to comment on Frieren. We only get to see Frieren's internal thoughts, not those of others.
  
• This is a serious, potentially life defining exam. The people are there for serious reasons, not a holiday. So even if they suspected something they wouldn't necessarily say anything. It would also be reasonable to wonder why the mage from the hero party would be taking an exam. They may also doubt the legends of how long-lived elves actually are.

Plus Freiren has tried to live as inconspicuously as possible. People may hardly remember some random elven mage on a statue with three other figures celebrating a decades-old event. Especially when she has to compete for attention with Himmel the Hero. I doubt many people would recognize Heiter if he walked through a town a decade or so after they defeated the Demon Lord, maybe less.

Heiter was the head of the entire priesthood. Everyone knew who he was. It was only in the last ten years while he was raising Fern and effectively retired that he faded from being instantly recognizable to being remembered.

The reality is Frieren disappeared into the woods of the central lands for 50 years. Agreed that she never made much of an individual impression on most folks when she was with Himmel and the others, except the ones we've already seen. They implied that she stopped by every so often, or at least knew that she would hold her promises.

But the demons? They all know her. The demons forgot about the others, if they even considered them in the first place.

Eighty years ago our world was in an existential war with the Demon Kings of Fascism. Today, the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of those who fought back then learn of that time in a boring few lessons in history class and don't care much about the Heroes. So it goes.

That is not exactly true Frieren did do a big stuff in her life even without the part of the party of the heroes her name and identity were supposed to be recognized at least by the mages or the top-ranked mages at least.

Because most of them lived long enough to be around when Himmel defeated the Demon King. Even then, the younger, weaker ones like Draht didn't know who Frieren was.

80 years is long enough for most of the humans who were alive back then to either be dead or old and close enough to their deathbeds, leaving nothing but tales and hearsay.
Anyone younger wouldn't know what she looked like.

And aside from the demon killing she did in Himmel's party, she didn't interact with humans or any mages until the start of this journey.
