Light novel 'Itai no wa Iya nano de Bougyoryoku ni Kyokufuri Shitai to Omoimasu.' (I hate being in pain, so I think I'll make a full defense build.) is getting an anime adaptation.

Plot

The novels' story centers on Kaede Honjō, who is invited by her friend Risa Shiramine to play a virtual reality MMO game with her. While Kaede doesn't dislike games, what she really, truly dislikes is being in pain. She creates a character named Maple, and decides to put all her points in VIT to minimize pain. As a result, she moves slowly, can't use magic, and even a rabbit can get the best of her. But as it turns out, she acquires a skill known as "Absolute Defense" as a result of her pumping points into VIT, as well as a "Counter Skill" that works against special moves. Now, with her ability to nullify all damage, she goes on adventures.

Wouldn't the pain thing be coustomizable or smth? I dunno, sounds like a shitty design decision.
But other than that, a low-stakes take on the whole VRMMO thing could be fun.

Well, there's a certain female spider as well... but perhaps there's not much difference between a male spider and a female spider, visually?

I'd preferred to have seen an anime adaptation of OSO, but I guess it's missed the boat (if it was going to get an anime it would probably have happened already).

I can't remember if there is an actual sensation of pain or not within the VR. But anyway, it's a rather fluffy story of a casual gamer girl who ends up with a broken def only build. She's kinda like the ultimate tortoise - slow, can't do much, but has an insane defence. Like, monsters tend to die by bashing themselves against her repeatedly

There is little pain. But even that is enough for MC go full defense into point even slime can run away from her.

It's gonna be fun, not necessarily adaptation I would choose if I could but it's good way to kill some time.

I kept away from the source material because of multiple reviews that stated that the protagonist constantly gets nerfed ingame because she's considered too OP. I don't like such development because it reminds me of the cheap writing some single player RPG sequels use to "justify" the main characters having to start over from level 1 again even though they became the strongest in the world in the previous game and the devs didn't want to create a new cast.

So fair warning, don't go into this series expecting anything serious. It's just a light hearted series about a young girl who makes an absolutely garbage build for an MMORPG character yet by pure accident becomes utterly OP in it because of it affecting the game in ways the Devs never expected or intended. Stomach medicine quickly becomes their friend.

Hmm... there are characters in that first PV that the anime shouldn't get to if it were adapting things at a reasonable pace. I'll have to see how this turns out.

They think of them as jokes. Then Maple innocently stumbles onto them time and time again and becomes insanely overpowered.
