"isekai" is for stories of someone taken to another world. You're pretty much saying "it's a fantasy and the guy feels like an average guy so it's isekai". Most fantasy anime these days are isekai, yes, but that doesn't mean being in a fantasy world immediately makes a story isekai.

Well it does feel like an isekai.

My personal definition of Isekai (especially in anime) is:

Isekai = Videogame mechanics (like a stat window or exp for example) exist or are mentioned as a part of the world's lore (if someone tells the MC or the MC tells someone to check their exp on said stat window etc).

Fantasy = LotR style world where the fantasy just is the reality of the world without videogame mechanics.

Yes, the word Isekai means another/other world, but from what I have noticed, what makes the Isekai genre is the fact of videogame mechanics being forced into a fantasy setting for writers convenience or just pure laziness of not having to write a proper fantasy world.

I personally don't consider 95% of Isekai anime as part of the fantasy genre. Heck, most of them just read like the writer had an idea for a videogame but since they don't know how to make one they wrote about it without taking the (a lot of the time crappy) videogame mechanics out.

With that said, it's not like an Isekai anime can't be a great fantasy story, it's just that relying on the VG mechanics get in the way of it.

As for the show, yeah, I am not going to continue watching this one. I have heard from other people about where it goes and I am definitely not going to deal with THAT.

Well, this has a cute start so far. I like the world and all the characters. Latina is so adorable.

I'm looking forward to seeing more.

^^Nanu?
Are u implying that Re:Zero is not isekai?
Frickin anime got isekai in it's title lmfao~

This and Maou Retry have both MC raising loli
So far there's nothing unique about this, standard fantasy trope, with MC is the usual yasashii nippondude

^Re:Zero is it's own brand of badly written crap (imo) within Isekai, but when one talks about Isekai in anime the ones that are present mainly are the ones that have VG mechanics. I never said there weren't other kinds of Isekai, just that in anime the "genre" has been perverted to the point that going to another world is NOT the main definition of what defines an Isekai story, at least not anymore.

Except it's still the ONLY thing that defines the genre. You don't need video game mechanics for it to be Isekai genre. Look at Danmachi; it's NOT Isekai and HAS video game mechanics. Your opinion of what defines the genre has no influence over what it actually is. And if you want to discuss what "brand" of Isekai Re:Zero is, it's called a Deconstruction.

Isekai literal means another world.

Is there? No? Then give up or you'll enter the embarrassing group of pariahs who try to force the native isekai terminology like ANN tried to in the past.

I think it's more indicative of the fact that most isekai has no business being isekai and should be just straight up fantasy.

But then the pathetic author can't escape reality if it is just a fantasy.

Set the tiger to 'ignore', and you'll solve half the problem.

Having read pretty far into the LN, I doubt this adaptation will go that far in only one cour.

Let me just repeat this, so anime only viewers don't approach this series with the wrong idea in mind.
This is not an isekai.

If you have any question about future story developments, feel free to ask me in private or go to the web novel section.

Whichever way it goes I don't think it'd really be fair to call it "Bunny Drop". Whatever path things take won't change the fact that Dale's too young to be the father of a girl her age. He may be her guardian and as the title indicates think of himself as being her "father", but by age difference he's more of an older brother forced into a semi-paternal role.

Not a bad first episode. I assumed this would be mostly slice of life, but the opening surgests action might feature at least a bit?

Loved this one. Nice feel good story with enough action and character depth to really make it enjoyable. And mine for game ideas. lol
