You got me now thinking about knights in terms of the knight classes in the Fate series.

Maybe we can have a long-range knight who uses a bow and arrow or firearms.

I want a knight who uses a vast arsenal of weapons like swords, spears, slings, axes, etc. Like a knight who is a jack-of-all-trades perhaps. Like a human who has travelled across all the world finding and collecting legendary weapons and using them. And the weapons have a variety of abilities.

I was think of a spear as well.

...On that point, not many spears from legends have been brought up in DxD, have they. Perhaps Rhongomyniad or Gae Bolg? Gungnir is out of the question I would imagine (Unless Odin purposely left it behind).

Speaking of Gae Bolg, has Caladbolg or Fragarach been mentioned in DxD yet?

Still hoping for the long range unit I see, not that I disagree, I wouldn't mind him having one either.

On the topic of Fate, and based on your description, wouldn't it be interesting if a (female) descendant of Lancelot were to be introduced? They could 'inherit' his Eternal Arms Mastery (It could even be crystallized into a Sacred Gear that is able to create weapons and impart the knowledge of how to use them. Basically an improvement to Blade Blacksmith and Sword Birth.). Interestingly, 'King of Arms', or something to that effect, was also one of King Arthur's epithets, but I doubt DxD would go that route.

I personally want more of a Japanese theme for Issei's 2nd Knight so how about taking OmegaWeaponZ (female) descendant of Lancelot idea and replace it with a (female) descendant of Benkei who is famous for having 7 weapons.

True. You start wondering what's her significance in the story considering that the other Aces of the Four Great Seraphs outshined her(and Xenovia for that matter as well).

Simple really, Irina is the childhood friend of the harem. She's just another "type" for the author to cross off the list of types of girls in Issie's harem. Sad as it is perhaps, but that's all she'll ever be.

Well, I wouldn't only say that. Her relationship with Issei is the poster child for the new age of peace, crossing both species and status. Besides, without her inclusion in the harem, I doubt we would have gotten as much perspective on the Heavens side that what we have. She is the link, just like how Michal explained her to be the 'Face' of the Brave Saints, being the Ace of Spades.

That being said, I do agree that her potential is squandered quite a bit, but this story is based on Devils primarily after all.

True, but this series suffers from a severe case of loads and loads of characters syndrome. Such that aside from a select few, must characters are barely two dimensional from lack of development.
