This strikes me as a last arc type of thing. In fact i can see Souma facing Jou himself and erina facing off against Asahi in the semi-finals and for a fun little twist the only judge in the finals is Erina herself. Something like that would amuse me at the very least.
EDIT: I just realized he could face Jou in the QF Erina in the semi's and Asashi in the finals. That way he gets all the major battles out of the way.

did you forget the strongest gift erina has? the god tongue. otherwise, by making asahi the final boss, it means he might have defeated erina, accomplish his goal to marry her. in the end, soma make her says his food delicious is pointless as erina herself is alrady taken away. it would ruin this manga to the fullest..lol

Is it just me, or does it really seem like Souma ending up taking over Yukihira Diner even after winning BLUE is a bit underachieving for him? He may believe that that diner is the best place in the world, but at the end of the day, it's not a gourmet restaurant but just a run-of-the-mill diner aimed at the masses. I wonder if he'll turn it into a gourmet restaurant and then have Erina work there with him after they're married (hopefully they will be).
Anyway, yeah, I don't think Souma will face Jouichirou in the BLUE. He's too old, as Anh_Minh said.

Souma didn't really care about become a top class gourmet though
He prefer to be the best chef but worked in familiar environment so it's probably underachieving for someone else but Souma always put it as his goal |

I'd actually argue that Soma opening/changing Yukihira diner into a gourmet restaurant would be totally out of character. It seems to me his entire character has always been a huge middle finger to gourmet cooking. So him ending up running the diner was always the logical conclusion for his character to me.
This doesn't really line up with Erina's final destination though. She, unlike Soma, is a gourmet cook and belongs in that part of the industry. That on top of her being headmaster of the school makes me wonder just how the author will rectify this major hurdle. The, in my opinion, hilariously bad writing of the last couple arcs doesn't really give me much hope that this will be given a satisfactory resolution. I really hope BLUE is more like the Autumn Election (where the series peaked). I would be ecstatic if Erina (or anyone else besides Soma) won the whole thing, but considering how Eishi and the first seat got handled I'm again not expecting too much. Someone said Shinomiya could compete and I'm going to laugh hard if this arc is just a series of Soma beating a bunch of characters from the past in piss poor ways to prove he's the bestest there ever was. |

erina can resign from her position and give it to alice. with her name alone as nakiri is easily for her getting job as freelancer such as food consultant, trainer, and etc like she had been done before while spending her time with family by help yukihira dinner at evening after finish her job. the most important thing is she was from broken family, mother is death, psycho father. so even if she choose becoming full time housewaifu is reasonable enough, since it means she want to raise a healthy kids that won't meet fate like her. still, she is japanese, she has a right to make that choice.

that's why I said that the chance of Souma X Erina is pretty low because I can't imagine how the author is going to match them in the end...
both of them have different upbringing and goal.. and either one would like to give it up for the sake of others it... might.. be different if they found out "love"... everything might happen but for now, nothing would happen between them They are only at "respect each other" level at this moment |

@LeftSeven
Yeah she could do that, but there's no indication that she would want to. She was left Totsuki by her grandfather and she fought for the school and is now molding it into what she thinks it should be. It seems to me that she likes being involved in the Gourmet World. She's already a pillar of the industry and I don't see any reason why she would give it up. Never said she couldn't, but I am saying that it would go against her character up to this point. Similar to Soma opening up a gourmet restaurant. She's already risen above her father's influence, he's not an issue at this point. One of the major points of the last arc was that he didn't ruin her. She's going to become the chef she wants to be, not what he wanted for her. @Yami If I'm being honest, I think it would've been better if they hadn't delved into romance. I think them being rivals and friends was good enough and covered all the benchmarks of what the manga set out to do. Soma already cooks for his friends and already cooks for Erina because he cares about her. Love comes in many forms, including friendship. Soma already met Joichirou's idiotic secret. He already cooks for those he loves and has been since he threw down the gauntlet for Megumi against Shinomiya. |

Souma doesn't have "a woman he'd be willing to cook all of the best dishes in the world for" yet. He's met Erina, but she hasn't that person for him (yet?). He just wants to make Erina say his cooking is delicious. That in itself could be part of Jouichirou was talking about and Souma doesn't realize it yet. It's possible he already loves her without realizing it.
The reason Senzaemon had Jouichirou enroll Souma at Tootsuki was to try to hook him up with Erina. He wanted Souma to save her and then hook up with her. The final decision lies with Souma and Erina themselves, but the stage is already set pretty much. Souma just has to defeat Asahi and Erina in BLUE (hopefully Jouichirou will train him more to make him as good as or better than Asahi). It's true that Erina wouldn't want to give up the gourmet world to work at a diner, just like how Souma wouldn't want to run a gourmet restaurant, but the author will still likely do something to make it work out (hopefully). I'm still shipping these two together, so hopefully it'll work out somehow.

The official English translation is "Finding someone who makes you want to give her the best food you've ever made." By that I'd argue Erina already is that to Soma. Nowhere does it say he has to want to bang her. That's not even getting to the fact that Soma has proven time after time that cooking for his friends brings out the best in him. Just like Shinomiya was driven to just be the best. Every chef finds strength differently. That why I called the secret idiotic in my earlier post.
Did it really explicitly say that Senzaemon and Joichiro planned for them to hook up? That's just creepy. I guess I bleached that from my mind. They're going to end up together. No matter how stupid and convoluted the journey is to get them to there. |

It's not explicitly stated, but it does seem to be implied. Senzaemon had Souma enrolled at Tootsuki so he could be there for and save his granddaughter. The end result of that for a Shounen is them becoming an item, normally. And Jouichirou is likely in on it too, which is also part of the reason for that speech about the secret.

I don't really think Senzaemon would've schemed something like that after saving Erina from his son-in-law's manipulation because it would hypocritical. "I'm taking your from a schemer only to subject you to my own schemes." I mean if that's the case....it's pretty screwed up.
I dunno, maybe it's a cultural thing. I'd personally would be pretty pissed if I found out my relatives were playing matchmaker without my knowledge. Especially when I was 15. |

Yeah, but that's still the case here. Sadly. He was already scheming it from before Erina was freed from Azami's influence since he made this plan to free her from that influence. Hooking her up with Souma would be a side-effect -- or at least that might be what he'd say.
