I used to love his doujin hentais, the art was always a cut above(well the later work). His previous serious work never really hooked me Prison School, although stupidly slow sometimes, makes me laugh out loud and even makes me facepalm and some of the ridiculous shit he comes up with. Doesn't take alot of planning to come up with a basic blueprint on character arcs and where and with who they end up with. Whenever I write a new book or script every character is pretty much plotted out from start to finish before I even begin the first chapter/scene. Winging it is a huge mistake for an author, minor changes like locations, situations and progression can be changed but the major things like relationship dynamics and major plot points are usually set in stone with very little wiggle room by the time of the first draft.

Also there's a clear difference between the relationships with Chiyo and Hana from the very beginning Kiyoshi and Chiyo's interactions were, at least to me, fake and hollow while the one with Hana, while brutal and antagonistic, were about as real to their true personas as you can get. There's never been a hint of a front from Kiyoshi with Hana while Chiyo doesn't even really know Kiyoshi at all neither does he her. I dunno maybe I'm seeing things differently.

Well, whether him planning Chiyo or Hana being Kiyoshi end game the things obvious we can take now is him routing Kiyoshi route to Hana now.

And lame, Hana fawning over Chiyo seems like a bad attempt at making Chiyo more likable. But who knows, maybe it'll succeed. Feels weird though, Hana doing a 180 in personality. Although maybe it's cause it's been so long we've seen her interact with another girl ("normally").

I agree that was the greater bomb. However, given how full of misunderstanding this manga is, she could have meant she loves him as a friend. Maybe someone who has read the raw could tell us if she worded it ambiguously or not in Japanese.

Kind of wished we had the Small/er boobed Mari back as well as her being a crossdresser/wears guy underwear, or so too or something like that or into women's asses I guess like her father. But she can't stand men for some reason.

She's actually my second favorite to Hana, although I've been a little disappointed with her lack of presence lately. I would have loved to see how she went from being a timid to child to the bodybuilder she is now, and I've always found her really funny as she poses the biggest threat to the guys, physically. Regardless, she's far from unnecessary. She's usually the muscle to any operation in the series. I don't know if she's the mascot, but if she is, it's because she really puts the "prison" in "prison school."
