Well I was kind of avoiding this one because of 黒色火薬最強説 in tags. I seriously fear it is (yet again) a series where the MC unleashes into a fantasy world (where he can because of hundreds of things become easily the strongest and undefeatable) easily coppyable guns using which anyone can kill the MC (btw. it was mostly because anyone could become fighting force that armies started killing civilians en mass).

Sounds like it will be a rather different story from the WN version, in terms of how Yuuji will be interacting with other people. I haven't read much MTL past where the translations are, but does he have any sort of love interest in the WN? Given that a lot of the WN (up to chapter 60ish? at least) seems to be about Yuuji getting by with his mediocrity and advice from the BBS while Kotaro and Alice are OP, if there's another adult human there, what's the point of Yuuji? Feels like he'd just be redundant.

Of course. The princess is usually useless, yet you need extreme finances on her and that she acts nice does not mean she is gonna be really nice (quite probably arrogant and high handed).
But a woman knight? She has to be twice as talented as any man. Plus being always next to the princess is gonna effectivily zero the number of her suitors, so she is gonna be easy prey. You can even go for a harem if you choose the knight .

Alphapolis has this shoujo story about a yuusha that ditches the royal princess and starts aggressively courting her maid attendant; I remember bumping into that manga a few times, the title makes it clear what the series is about.
