In some sad news, it appears that Bob Magruder, voice actor for the Funimation dub of Fairy Tail, serving as the the narrator and voice of Igneel, has passed away.
We've heard the news from Aaron Roberts, voice of Samuel and miscellaneous background voices: https://twitter.com/AaronRobertsYes/...52507843481601 https://www.facebook.com/AaronRobert...06235892856303 And from Bobby Goldstein, creator of the tv show Cheaters, a show Bob Magruder narrated for many years: https://twitter.com/bobbygoldstein/s...61793244016641 |

"I'm not asking the impossible of you, my boy. I know you have the power to do it. Stop doubting yourself. Never forget you are a true Dragon Slayer, and you should take pride in that accomplishment. Know that no matter what happens... I, Igneel, will always be proud of you."
Bob Magruder as Igneel, Episode 67. RIP.

I'm sure they'll continue. They wouldn't have made a point of getting the continuation for simulcast if the series wasn't successful. There might be a break due to a need to wait a certain amount of time after the DVDs are released in Japan, but that'll likely be it.

I still need to resume watching the dub myself, stopped after Episode 04 I think. (I probably would've watched FT dub only if I had the patience to wait for FUNi lol)

I did try to watch the Animax dub at one point, but I couldn't get past the first few minutes of Episode 1.

Not to be rude or on attack with what you are saying. But now we are thinking that they ARE allready busy dubbing the new 2014 series. I really hope that it is true ,but so far i did not see any anouncements at all, about dubbing it. So it may be false hope what you are giving us... Again its not an attack on what you are saying |

Well, we have a trailer for Part 16. And...the art is the same as the simulcast version. I just hope it's just for the trailer and we'll be getting the cleaned version from the Japanese DVD on the final product. I'm glad it's getting a good dub, but I want it to look as good as it's going to sound...
And for those who don't know what I mean by the art, tell me which looks better: Spoiler for Simulcast / English DVD trailer:
Spoiler for Japanese DVD:

No, it's a brand new trailer made by Funimation. But I've messaged them, and they've looked into it. From what I could gather, the video for the American home release should be the same as the Japanese one, and that sometimes broadcast versions can make their way into trailers. This isn't the first time a Funimation trailer has featured non-finalized material. Most of the clips they release don't fully mix the audio into the video, making it sound raw and louder than the BGM and SFX. There was even a dub trailer with a character whose voice actor was different from the final cut, and for good reason (apparently they thought Faust was supposed to be Grand Doma, not Makarov; dunno how that happened). I've sent them other comparisons between broadcast and home release versions, so hopefully this is just a trailer thing.
