Regardless of everything else but ffms2 r430 is quite old. Use 2.16.

It's not related, ffms2 does not use any directshow components (with the exception of Haali's TS parser, but it's not invoked via DirectShow).

As for why it's broken, I guess either some rouge broken filter has stolen the mp3 association, or your VFW installation is broken (normally mp3 files are decoded via the Windows builtin AVI stuff in quartz.dll). Go ask the CCCP people; if anyone knows how to debug DirectShow problems it'd be them.
