well, they did TRY to make Akira and Machina's death look heoric and sad, sacrifice themselves to block attacks for the main characters and things, but they just failed in the script and direction, and delivered an end result that's both cheap and stupid

well, Kazuki has as much chance of redemption as Nena of Gundam 00

But then with the latest episodes, somehow Sakaki manages to look even more psycho and worse than Kazuki... is that even possible?

I haven't watched 19 yet, but it seems to me that the form the dragon takes is a reflection of what the dragonaut want most. Sakaki wanted his daughter back, Jin was thinking of his sister, Kazuki wants to be wicked awesome, Akira wanted to be a perfect woman, Asim wanted a mother figure, Liner might have wished he were more open and outgoing, etc... if so, it could certainly explain the strong attraction within some of the pairs (Kitajima and Nozaki, Jin and Toa, etc).
I think it's quite obvious that Liner wanted... JIN'S FATHER, so he ended up with Howling Star

Yeah, got to admit that Kazuki has some great taste in men, when you look at Gio, and Jin

If he had any interest in women, Widow would be granting a different type of wish for him

After 19 episodes, I think I've finally figured out what the story and structure of this series is about: "capture and rescue". Seriously, that is all they do in the whole series so far, over and over and over again.

Btw, what is up with Sakaki? He used to look so promising, but now he is suddenly a psycho as well? Did Kazuki infect him somehow with an idiot bug?

Anyway, here is hoping they can pull something spectacular off to end the series!

From now on I'll be following the Infinite-Zero releases for the fansubs to Dragonaut. Unfortunately, it'll take me a while to catch up, although the anime is approaching its ending run.

Spoiler:

Yep you figured it out I have never seen an anime where people are caught and rescued so many damn times and still not go very far with the plot. As for Sakaki i believe that his current break down has been building for a while now. He has never recovered from the death of his daughter and it obvious he blames Thanatos and dragons. Hence his unfeeling words of disposing of his dragon but once he realized she is going to die anyway he just laughs and says what convient tool when he is the one thats freakin TOOL. I feel he broken about what he feels he must do and what he has been forced to do with his former comrads. At this point if I was a Dragonaut and i saw Sakaki on the battlefield i would not hesitate to kill him. There is no gray line between friend and foe you are either my enemy or my ally that its.

As for pulling off something spectaular for the ending I would keep my hopes low if i were you for fear of disappointment. I still think Toa is going to bite the dust at the end all with the professor and Sakakis dragon. Kazuki will probably live DEAR GOD WHY. On the bright side if Toa eats it Seiglinde can move in on Jin the crush factor is so obvious there with Tsundre she acts towards him.

Thank you for subbing it and I think you would be forgiven for accidentally calling Kazuki emo boy or just plain twat.

@Sinestra - Yah he is a big tool isn't he.

Nice episode, shame it came in so late or else I could have a little more positive feelings towards her other then she is very bratty. Although due to the dad needing to be there in the time of need, as the meeting excuse I guess that this was the only place they could squeeze it in.

We appreciate your work in any form! It is voluntary labor after all and most, including myself take it for granted far too often.

Well, my comment is more to show that I have a bit of antipathy with the show right now. However, I really shouldn't be surprised, I expected it to screw up but I was secretly hoping it would improve with such a promising premise.

Then again, my mood with this show is still better than what occurred with Gurren-Lagann. Gurren's second half killed any will I had to do the show, badly.

Have to give big credit to the subbers. Can't be easy to keep on going with the show sometimes.

Sinestra: what show your avatar from? XD nice cap there

To be entirely honest, only reason I'm still watching this is because its close enough tot the end I can't just drop it, I'd like to see how it ends even if I'm not expecting much.

Just watched 18 and 19, and there's not much I can say about this show anymore besides "lol".
Though I just can't be disappointed with this show, maybe it's because I just don't expect anything from it?

Its Horo from Spice and Wolf showing her bad ass side

Yep thats the only reason im still watching i wish i could do a poll to see how many people are doing the same but it would actually be pointless and really gain nothing except another excuse for us to bitch about the show. Id like to thank Infinite-Zero for continuing to sub such a abysmal show so we all something to make fun of day in and day out.

Apart from the abysmal script what also bugs me about Dragonaut is the fact that more than a year after the start of the show Toa, Gio, Jin and even Sieglinde, the rich spoiled heiress, are wearing the very same clothes they started with. Sieglinde and Toa even slept in these clothes in the last episode. Come on Gonzo, don't be so cheap, draw them some new clothes.
At least there was a hilarious moment in ep.18 when one of the bridge bunnies said that she liked zero gravity because her boobs weighed less.
