I read a bit of the first volume, and to tell you the truth it really doesn't interest, seems like a very very typical shounen manga... Typical hot-blooded irrational stupid main character with spiky hair who has a girl to protect (his sister this time), sexy similarly-aged girl comes in (with short skirt) and has teh liek l33t abilities, main character finds out he has l33t abilities as well, girl person gets pwned by accident, main character goes and liek takes revenge for her Or something like that, anyway, I just can't stand the main character. Unless this does turn better (Well, it could, there's still a bit of chance, at least the female is decently good and doesn't like, immediately fall for him or something. Bah. I'm not interested, anyway.

Eh well, I read all 3 volumes released so far.. However I haven't read up to the latest plot twist which hasn't been compiled yet. But basically, waos description is fairly apt -_-. Though I'll have to say this, Kazuki isn't l33t. He's not very skilled, but he IS very determined. Otoh, Katsuki at least is amusing at times.

It's not good, too shounen to be said. But at the beginning RuroKen wasn't good either so maybe this will grow better too. I kind of hoped this series would have been canceled. Watsuki really should come up with more original ideas.

I'm starting to wonder if Watsuki really did RK after all... I think he must have had some uber assistants helping him till like vol 18 of RK theres and ever since he's been floundering. Or maybe he stole all his ideas from somewhere and now his fountain has dried up. Heck, or maybe he's just a one-hit wonder after all. If I were him I'd just retire on the RK proceeds and have a good time.

Author of Shaman King and Eiichiro Oda were Watsuki's assistants during RuroKen so maybe that explains it.

Edit. Author of Rave was also Watsuki's assistant.

off topic i found kenshin pics that were drawn by Oda and Takei.
Oda's Himura Kenshin

Takei's Himura Kenshin

Also Obata's Himura Kenshin (creator of hikaru no go and Deathnote)

Oda's kenshin cracks me up. ^^
i better not see people using this as AVATAR! just kidding. ^^

Just because I enjoy pointing out errors, Obata did nothing but DRAW Hikaru no Go. The creator and writer was Hotta Yumi.

As for the subject, I think the latest Watsuki is a pile of derivative crap and didn't read past volume 1. Kind of like Gun Blaze West or whatever the hell he tried to write last time. The man should just give up or continue the Kenshin world with Yahiko.

or better yet a prequel of the time since hiko seijiro picked up kenshin till the time he left to the revolution, it could be nice seeing how kenshin was brought up, the training he endured, and his interaction with his master.

i recall there was a thread discussing it yup here it is

i know, deathnote is my first manga to have a story-writer and artist cooperating.
i enjoy obata's drawing but yumi makes one helluva story.
and i agree for Watsuki to continue the tales of yahiko or possibly kenji.

Yeah... Gun BLaze West was really bad, it got pulled off as well (he admitted it was bad though). But they're all really nowhere as good as Rurouni Kenshin, just what happened to Watsuki? One-hit wonder? I think RK ended nicely though, it's juts that stupid !@#$ Seisouhen OVA had to "continue" it and also "end" it -_- The manga ended nicely with enough resolutions but also not a completely closed ending. Though I'd like to know what happened to Sano and Yahiko, still, it's kind of late to make a sequel.

/me sighs

And yeah, Oda's Himura Kenshin cracks me up. XD

Apparently, it's never too late to make a sequel. Just look at all the old classics getting sequels nowadays like Mister Ajikko 2 or Captain Tsubasa road to 2002. So, hey, it could happen. You never know.
