Hametsu no Oukoku (The Kingdoms of Ruin) is getting a TV anime adaptation, scheduled to air this year

Plot Summary:

For ages, humanity flourished through the power of magic, a gift from witches to aid mankind. But times have changed. The scientific Gear Expansion has made both magic and witches obsolete. In order to liberate humanity from the blight of magic, the mighty Redia Empire began a ruthless hunt to exterminate all witches. Adonis was only a boy when the hunt began, apprentice to a witch he dearly loved. When she perishes at the hands of the empire, Adonis vows revenge. By this furious wizard’s power, blood will flow!

OK, JP wiki actually knows about that manga. But still, it is so "well known" that it was the only place I found it mentioned in relation. Noone even bothered licensing it despite "Hametsu no Oukoku" being licensed. Is it really that necessary for the story understanding?

To the general flow of the story? No.
But for the biggest plot twist that completely blown the fandom's mind over? Yes.

Its just one edgy series after another this season. First episode seemed interesting enough so I'll probably stick with it for now.

Outside of how incredibly edgy this is, it actually wasn't that bad.

I have no idea why people want to kill the witches so much if the humans are so strong
I don't know why the people are acting like it is the medieval times
I don't know why a smartphone controls the entire jail
I don't know why the stupid brat decided to dash forward instead of using magic
Why did they restrain him so completely? He needs to use a pen, right? It's not just talking?

Also to be honest, I don't really have high hopes for the story because from the OP, it feels like most of the episodes will be trying to run away from his pursuers
And from the edginess of the first episode, probably a lot of NPCs will die along the way in extremely bloody fashion

I think there is another current anime based on manga. The main theme is also about revenge and good, bad, and ugly side of human nature.

My impression of this anime is similar to Korean manga. The way Korean manga showing ero and violence is different from Japanese manga showing ero and violence.

Anyway, the first episode establishes the goal for protagonist. He is in Elfin Lied like bondage play. He will make an escape for sure.

Like, uuuuh... yeah. It's Witch Hunter Robin, if Witch Hunter Robin were the most unsubtle show in the world. The humans here have less redeeming qualities than the ones over in Avatar 2: Aquaworld Bogaloo. I mean, it's entertaining, but making humanity at large super psychotic never is a good move in storytelling. It's just an arrow pointing straight at a punch-me-down man-sized doll. Gets one or two more episodes, depending how annoyed I get at the gross stereotyping. Although the likelyhood that masked woman also is a witch or some devil with nefarious plans is close to 100%, so the mass psychosis might come from that.

Only if the prequel is translated for people to notice the real implication of that masked woman.
