Tomo-chan wa onnano ko (Tomo-chan is a Girl) is getting an anime adaptation. Announcement should come today from the Anime Expo.

Plot Synopsis

A youthful romantic comedy between a boyish girl and her dense childhood friend. Loved by fans all over the world, this series is now being made into an anime! The series concluded in 2019. It won 1st place for the Web Manga category in the 2nd Annual NEXT MANGA AWARDS. Not only is it extremely popular among fans in Japan, but the series also has many passionate fans overseas, which led to this long-awaited anime adaptation! Boyish high school girl Tomo Aizawa (Tomo-chan) wants her childhood friend Junichiro Kubota to see her as an actual girl, but every attempt ends up in vain. Will Junichiro ever realize Tomo’s romantic feelings towards him?! In 2023, Tomo-chan and her very unique friends will charm the world with this youthful romcom!

But I'm glad it's getting an adaption as it's a really fun and cute manga. Considering it's already finished, I think if they pace it right they can probably cover the main story in a one cour

Excellent! I was just thinking about candidate mangas that could be made into animes yesterday and this one popped up in my mind. It's been a while since it was completed though, and I agree it will make a single-cour series given the manga is four-koma format.

I wonder if they'll body-swerve the, ahem, issues regarding Carol-chan's antecedents.

Holy crap, this cast

Admittedly, I read the manga with Miyuki Sawashiro and Yuichi Nakamura's voices as the leads in my head, but this is also great.

Also, I never expected this to get an anime now, of all things. It's been three years since this manga ended.

Yeah, it’s been a while since she voiced schoolgirls

Although back when manga was released, she still did.

Also, there’s something about Tomo that made me remember Seo Yuzuki sometimes, so that also played a certain part in my imaginary casting
