I have a soft spot for sports anime with all girls cast. And this one has a theme close to me (me and my brother did tae kwon-do at school and my father practised jiujitsu and karate). So will definetely watch it.

I was interested in this show when I first read about it, but I didn't expect it to be my favorite premiere of the season (so far, at least). Growing up in the American Midwest, I didn't do Judo but I was on my junior high wrestling team. I never expected anything to give me so much nostalgia for that experience.
Michi is my favorite character of the season (again, so far). We may or may not have a yuri triangle in the making with her, Sanae, and Towa (who reminds me of Shirase from A Place Further Than the Universe). |

Pretty much my thoughts about it. I kinda dislike the early yuri concept they're pushing though.
The last judo anime I watched was actually Yawara!, which was some parts fun and some parts annoying. The judo, despite how sparingly it was, was pretty enjoyable, but the relationship components were... well... I'll be nice and say it was 80's romance at its finest . Anyway, I'm expecting similar results here, so I hope its more about judo and less about love crushes and whatnot.

Who knew that judo could be a risky sport. Rougby seems relatively safer sport.
The JC(middle school girl) got strangled and passed out. She vowed to quit judo due to experience of broken rib. When she becomes JK(hgihschool girl), she is pulled into the world of judo again. Judo skill is actually useful. The practioners learn to reduce impact when falling to ground. I thought it was helpful for elders, which aging is impacting their walking coordination. So, it is safer than other martial arts. Anime shows still shows it may not be good for health. |

It is not a continuation. "More" in the title does not automatically mean sequel, same as the story starting with sort of flashback, it is pretty common. There is no prequel manga of any sort.

I'm liking this more and more, towa-chan is so cute.
Btw is the first time I see that they need a guardian stamp to join a club. Maybe because it's judo and we see they can get hurt, it may be the same with others sports clubs. Just saying, it's a first for me lol. |

Kendo girl is my favorite.
Looks so far like a lighthearted girl sports anime. The actual judo action looks realistic enough. I don't think the girls are all that good, so I don't think winning tournaments is gonna be a big focus, which is fine. They don't even have any senpais to teach him. The girls seem to be over-react and worry about stuff, like with Towa and Sanae having a big mental deal about asking her parents to stamp the approval, when they didn't really care that much. But hey, that's youth I guess. Also I feel like just one bread pastry is way too little for lunch.

This and also everyone somehow having a black belt was the thing that bothered me a bit. I guess, they also practice judo somewhere else with real instructors. The main girl also mentioned that it was her brother, who introduced her to judo.

Not a bad episode. Looks like Towa and Sanae grew a bit. I, too, like Nagumo the most. I expected the lunch lady to end up being their advisor, since most official clubs need them, and she was kinda motivational with her phrases. However, it seems they have a new char for that position. I imagine this guy is gonna dump on them over being considerate/optimistic, so I wonder how the girls will take it.
That being said, I'm starting to edge this one out of my seasonal lineup. It does nothing wrong, but isn't remarkable either, and my time is starting to be an issue this season.
