Tower of God Anticipation

The webtoon 'Tower of God' is apparently getting anime adaptation, to be made by a Japanese anime studio.

This is very unexpected. Wonder if they can do a series this long justice.

As far as adaptations go, it'll probably be shit. Way too much material to cover. The first season alone would be a miracle. I've grown increasingly critical of the manhwa in recent years due to
Spoiler for nothing spoilery but just in case:
, but none of these are too prevalent in the beginning. Honestly, a japanese studio handling the animation and character designs would solve half these problems. So I'm looking forward to this.

There was a time I would have been pretty pumped over this, but the incredibly undisciplined and sloppy writing finally wore me down. There's a potentially interesting anime in there but this one seems like a nightmare to try and adapt.

It's odd timing to see a spate of manhua adaptations just as a nasty trade war is exploding between Korea and Japan.

I thought about that too. And this is the worst crisis between these two countries since World War II. I wonder if this will affect anime production since Korean studios work with Japanese studios.

I have mixed feelings... I don't know I forgot most of it since I drop it and how the author says about hell train this is hellish long and there a lot to cover.

Exactly, the quality of writing in S2 is declining after hell train, i don't put any hope for good expectation but only take of good sign of possible more of webtoon adaptation after this and noblesse.

Japan seemingly take notice for potential of weebtoon.

Wow, I kind of forgot this was a thing. Somewhere in that hell train...I just was burned out. Still, I could be convinced to check this out. If they just take a sensible pace and don't try to adapt the whole thing...you never know.

I never did get into TOW, but between this and Noblesse being announced it gives me some hope that we might start seeing more anime adaptations of manhwa. Maybe something like Wind Breaker.

Designs look solid. Kinda worried about the timing. Was the studio mentioned? It's japanese right?

Heh, I have to admit I never quite believed it.

If there were ever a source material that needed massive editing in its adaptation, it's Tower of God. If they distill it down to its best 30% or so it could be great.

I can't believe this is actually happening. I do have to agree with Enzo's suggestion that they should trim down the less memorable content.

Apparently it's being produced by a new CGI studio formed by Aniplex. So expectations take a bit of a tumble there.
