Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari. First Thoughts
Absolutely loved what I watched for trying out the first two episodes; a nice bonus is that the first episodes lasts the double amount of screen time.
Perhaps, Tate no Yuusha is not anything new already offered, exposed, or tried before in stories or light novels whether be based upon RPG games, high fantasy worlds, or sci-fantasy settings. Nevertheless, I have to hand it to the writers for making the pacing tightened so as to get emotional responses from the audience, like me, to empathize with Naofumi tribulations and him getting betrayed heartbreakingly, as he hardens himself to cope with that fantasy world's nuances in order to prepare to survive the coming Wave of calamity. I would have reacted the same way if been in Naofumi's shoes with the deceit and backstabbing done by that traitorous wretch, Myne. To be accused and slandered out of the blue with the whole world coming at you in all directions without rest I would've broken and lashed in a similar matter like him. To me it isn't as much as how that world's mechanics work for him leveling-up his shield and unraveling new skills and abilities that stir my interest, rather the dynamics at how Naofumi adapts to each different environment and situation in order to ensure both his survival and Raphtalia's. Case in point, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Based on the opening, I can bet my two cents that Naofumi's party will eventually be almost made of with demi-humans members. |
