3D Kanojo (Real Girl) Anticipation

3D Kanojo (Real Girl) manga is getting a TV anime adaptation. Coming for 2018.

Plot:
Quote:
Tsutsui Hikari is an otaku, and he mostly avoids social life. Hikari has only one friend at school, who is also a social misfit, and he is mocked brutally by most of his classmates for being creepy and weird. One day, he ends up having to clean the school pool with Igarashi Iroha, who appears to be pretty much everything he hates in real-life girls. She skips school, has a blunt manner, doesn't have female friends, and seems the sort to be promiscuous. However, she is friendly to Hikari, and even stands up to the people who make fun of him. Hikari's bitterness and trust issues lead him to say pretty harsh things to Iroha, but she never dismisses him as creepy. After a while, it starts to look like Iroha may become his first real-life, 3D girlfriend! Will he be able to handle it?

Loks like it. Also, the manga is completed judging by MAL.

Quite interested in this one, for some reason I find these stories pretty comfy.

If you just mean ones that get turned into anime then yeah, but in general when it comes to manga it's not that rare. Since Otomen is likely to never happen maybe we can at least get Baraou no Souretsu.

Shoujo is not a genre but a demographic, there's plenty of shoujo manga and light novel titles (or simply aimed at pre- and late teen girls) adapted to anime that have a male protagonist, even if they aren't as common as the ones with female leads. However they usually aren't exactly so popular and from the top of my head, ultra-recent series such as Natsume's Book of Friends (or anything by the same author) and My Love Story!! comes to mind.

I don't recall anyone stating it was a genre over the course of this discussion...

There are a few, but not all that many with true male protagonists (as opposed to male main characters). Just as there aren't many shounen with true female protagonists. They tend to be more interesting than the average series when they do happen (Nozaki-kun being one good example).

What's interesting for me is not that it is a shoujo manga with a male lead, but it's a shoujo manga with a premise that I categorize is typical wish fullfilment stuff aimed at males. I mean, you've got nerdy, loner, edgy main male character, meets girl who seems to be a riajuu, outgoing, and on top of that, beautiful.

It would be the equivalent of a shounen manga where the main character is a non-descript, average and poor girl, and all of a sudden the most popular guy in school gets entangled with her and begins to fall in love. I mean true, Ore Monogatari is a good example of shoujo bending the usual tropes, but this one has an MC straight out of LN harem aimed at men. Which is really bizarre...

Yesterday, January 30, Kodansha Comics released the final volume (12) for the English translation of the manga series. In Japan that volume was released on August 12, 2016. In Japanese, serialisation concluded in Dessert's July 2016 issue.

not the greatest love story.. it is just an okay series but the female lead is really good

I don't think I'll watch this since the manga isn't really memorable for me but still it gives a nice conclusive ending

Episode 1

Not bad actually. The OP song for the show fits with the drama-style storytelling while the animation looks decent for what it is.

Iroha is a really pretty girl and the first episode really made her stand out even compared to some of the other girls. In the meantime, the relationship dynamics are evident between her and the male guy already. Between the lighthearted drama and humor, I think the first episode was alright.

Expecting a lot of kissing
