Not that I'm surprised but his end was coming with all the death flags. Mikumo back in action with the Walkures. Glad to see that she, Hayate, and Mirage were able to help Frejya get back on track.
Honestly, words can not describe how disappointed I am with this episode. Maybe I expected too much u_u
Also, it seems like they are trying to throw in some random development for Mirage because the endgame is near, wow. I don't know but lately it just looks like they are trying to awkwardly squeeze her into this triangle, which has, for 22 episodes now, put the most focus on Hayate and Freyjas relationship, imo.
Cassims death flags were kinda telling it but still, that was so sad I almost cried for him D: I liked him the best out of the aerial knights...
We finally have an interaction between Hayate and Mikumo! The later much like Basara bothered of somebody not listening to his song Mikumo wonders why Hayate doesn't react to her songs only to Freyja. Does Hayate find her not cute? More like scary to him. Guess mystery isn't in his strike zone.
Alfheim we finally see Voldor's NUNS kicking ass. Larzabal or Cat Dad blowing up a Windermerean Catamaran battleship with a VB-6 Konig Monster. Thus we have a required Monster appearance.
Freyja still having her doubts but Hayate and Mirage tell her to have faith in them. They fight Cassim who is full of death flags. Hayate goes Var but Mirage snaps him out of it.
Cassim dies as he fossilzes in front of Hayate and Freyja. Thinking of his son.

That's not entirely true. Hayate and Mirage did tell her to have faith in them, but it was also Mikumos bitchslap and Walküres support that made Freyja fully sing again. And it wasn't just Mirage that snapped Hayate out of his Var state, Freyja and Mirage did it together But it was kinda stupid, at least to me. Through the power of friendship (instead of properly sorting it out with Freyja), Hayate miraculously won't turn Var again. Wow, way to go. All that "Hametsu no Junjou"-Ending build up for nothing
Kawamori made me even more confused about this "triangle" now
This is something that has bothered me since day one. Hayate prowess is not from skill but mahou shoujo powers. It makes all the achievements the show throws at you so lackluster. To me at the very least.
So yelling someone's name is as powerful as singing lol?
Seems like it, that really annoyed the hell out of me in this episode. That's what I meant with "random development"... But it really isn't any development at all. It's just mere triangle service - they need something to give Mirage a "realistic chance" I guess
If I hear her screaming "DELTA 4" over and over again in the next episode too, I am going to break my headphone and throw it out of the window. Same goes with her frantic "Hayate!" - how that helped this time is really beyond me. The writing for delta is top-notch
That was strange. Hayate/Mirage interaction supported by Freyaja's song of love (?) snapped Hayate out of Var and gave him immunity, all at the same time. Sudden development, lack of explanation, magical power of love and friendship overcoming rules of the world...
I'm torn right now. Don't know what to think about it.

I'm still salty. Everything in this episode seemed so out of context to me, I really lost it halfway. But then again, this is Deltas forte

Like Cassims death. I really liked him but I expected him to die because of all the death flags - most of my favorite characters seem to die halfway through the story (I'm looking at you Messer) but seriously? A death like that? I thought he would die for a greater cause and not some random combat with Hayate. Same goes for Keith - where the hell has he been?? Did he take Mirages spot for disappearing randomly for plot-convenience?
Hayate/Freyja dynamic for over 2/3 of the series trampled over.
Mirage suddenly now 1/2 of Hayate's wings.
Hayate and Freyja weren't the ones who fixed their resonance problem on their own.
No further explanations on Mikumo.

I know I had high hopes for this, but damn. This has literally gone down the gutter. I'm not even sure I could call this decent anymore.
It's been slipping since episode 19 but I tried to pull on through and now... THIS. wow, no.

Mirage suddenly now 1/2 of Hayate's wings.
Hayate and Freyja weren't the ones who fixed their resonance problem on their own.
No further explanations on Mikumo.

I know, right? I actually thought a big thing would happen, since the episodes title is "Ultimate Brave". I thought it would sort out Freyjas and Hayates problem - but no. It did solve their problem but how it was done completely trampled over their relationship.
Mirage now being one of his wings made me cringe. It made no sense at all - her connection with Hayate is confusing me to no end. They just leave Mikumo as she is after all that happened - but look, they gave us some Walküre-Fanservice again

I really wanted for Hayate and Freyja to fix their resonance problem alone, not through the power of friendship via Bitchslap and some "I am now immune to Var because of friendship magic". What did they give us the second ED for?? I'm so fed up with how they are treating Hayates and Freyjas relationship right now.
Somehow - for some episodes now - Delta has me sitting there at the ending credits, staring at the screen with "It's already over? This is it?". That's kinda sad since I really liked this anime from the start - but now I don't know anymore. It's starting to really frustrate me.

Alas, this sure as hell isn't what I expected nor what I think character development deserved.
Seems to me like this episodes pretty much proves ippus was on the write track with regards to Mirage all along. And everybody else failed. Me included, I only reconsidered how I saw her/her development after I read her posts. She actually got what the writers were going for. Huh. I'd tip my hat to her if I had one.

Or I suppose you could say the writers were too focused on shoving the main duo in the spotlight for a little too long, and a lot of people missed everything else. Yeah, I'm gonna vote that the writers of this show suck. I honestly don't blame the viewers.
This said the triangle isn't over and I still think it'll either be open, Hayafre or OT3. I personally don't care.
Mirage did says that she promise to protect them both in ep 20, Don't tell me you guys forget about it?
Of course not, but I am mad how they dealt with it in this episode. Hayates and Freyjas resonance problem is something meaningful and big - and they are just solving it like this?

Please tell me why Mirage has the value of a second wing to Hayate now? For screaming "Delta 4" or "Hayate"? Why can't they give her some proper development instead of fleshing her out for this so called triangle? It's beyond me. It was also super smart of her to hug Hayates VF with hers - it's not like Cassim and the other knights could shoot them both down in this position but ok, I guess they disappeared for the plot. We watched the development of Hayates and Freyjas dynamic for 22 episodes now, their relationship has been built up nicely with a lot of moments and they are just catapulting Mirage up like that? Out of nowhere?
I'm not even a shipper and I still find trying to make Mirage as important to Hayate as Freyja nonsensical at best. It's too late for that. It just makes all the developments feel cheap and half-hearted.
Also, Mikumo and Makina got separated from the rest at the end and it seemed like no one from Delta platoon was keeping tabs on them. After catching Freyja and Kaname, Arad and Mirage should have gone after the cargo ship to protect Mikumo, who just happens to be the key player in this crazy plan. But no, let's just leave her there unprotected while we watch like a bunch of morons how Hayate waste his time chasing after Kassim. What's wrong with these people? Or more like, who writes this thing?
Another fun bit: Cassim fails to choose between his honor and his family so he achieves none of his goals. He is the pineapple salad winner of this generation, except that he probably has no kohai who respect him enough to get the message of, 'Do not live like this. Live better, idiots.'
This episode made no sense at all. Every single moment and development Freyja and Hayate had was flushed by the drain. And just to make Mirage part of the non existent triangle. At this point I can say the worst part of the series is the Romance, allbecauseofMirageopeninghermouth. Seriously disappointed
