So a Summer start-time, eh? Probably a good choice for a show with the word "Sunshine" prominently in the title.
Given how much I loved the original, I'm certainly looking forward to Sunshine! Quote:
Why didn't you watch the original? I highly recommend it!

This feels like it's coming out too soon. I was hoping to get at least another year of music PVs and audio dramas to get a feel for the characters and for the fanbase to help establish the characters before a full blown TV series. µ's had 5 PVs and ~4 years of fanworks that the TV series referenced a lot in comparison.
I'm definitely watching it because it's goddamn Love Live and I really adore µ's TV series and the PVs. I hope we get something unique out of Chika and Riko and that they have something that characterizes them beyond being crappy Honoka and Umi clones. |

Hmm well curious at least. I mean there is always a risk that the spin-off group won't be as interesting as the original, but should give them a chance. It could turn out to be a nice and fun show.
No shock at them hurrying to this though. Love Live sells like hotcakes. Getting this new group out there quickly means sooner to getting money out of them. Who knows, this could turn out really good. Didn't know much about the original cast before it aired either and that turned out well.

ANN: The Love Live! Sunshine!! project's live-streamed special announced on Monday that the project's idol group Aqours will join the Love Live! School Idol Festival game app. Aqours' songs will join the smartphone game's regular lineup as they come out, starting this summer.
In addition, the game will start a newly created story with Aqours as cards. The game already features Aqours music as special bonus tracks for a limited time, but their music will now be available as regular tracks. Before then, the seal shop will offer the Aqours' uniform R cards starting on January 31 at 4:00 p.m. The special cards will not have voices during this early release, but voices will be added in the future during their formal release. |

You have better memory than me then, because I don't remember posting on those, just checking them now and then out of curiosity. As for the why to my lack of experience, a combination of work killing me and personal issues then, now its mostly fear of the overwhelming hype. That said, I should check it out, if only because character wars are inevitable (and I want to understand the Maki love, perhaps join if I share it). Wouldn't be my first idol anime, so I know what to expect. |

Careful, spin-off shows rarely turn out to be good. I can already see that the characters are going to have similar personalities/roles as the original cast did. That could either be good or bad, and I'm betting on the latter.
After that train wreck that Cinderella Girls from the iM@S series turned out to be, I'm not all that excited for this one. |

Watanabe You has a slight superficial similarity to Hanayo, but her personality seems different from Hanayo and all the μ's girls. You dreams of being a ship captain, and even likes making some salutes, which is certainly different from anybody in μ's. Ruby Kurosawa gives me the vibe of a shy and soft-spoken, but sweet and cheerful girl. Her overall look is also significantly different from anybody in μ's. Yoshiko Tsushima is apparently a full-blown chuunibyou case, which makes her significantly different from anybody in μ's. So there should be at least some freshness in Sunshine's main cast. Will it all come together well? That remains to be seen, but this franchise hasn't disappointed me yet, so I think they've earned the benefit of the doubt. At the very least, Julio C, I hope you'll give Sunshine a good 3-episode try. Quote:
Hopefully work won't be killing you over the next few months.

Wait, one of them is chuuni? Having watched cinderella girls, my standards for that type are really high (you should know who I'm talking about). I hope the drama isn't exaggerated. |
