Nice episode, Freyja's singing skills improved again although she put her life on the line.

Messer and Keith's rivalry was rather interesting to see this episode. I hope we get more background story (maybe next episode?) about him soon as it implies that he had a tragic past. Good to see them escape after being captured. Poor Hayate. I think he has a personal rivalry with Bogue now.

Messer also seems far from normal this episode...

I can't help but laugh at the flimsy excuse Bogue gave for this war. Before Eathers came they were ignorant of the universe around them. Earthers disturbed that peace. Winderean nobility are so full of themselves. Hayate kept
wrecking them with the truth. Even Freyja calls on their bullshit.

Freyja manages to rescue little Catgirl's dad from Var. Unfortunately Messer has Var. He met Keith in person.

Call back to Macross 7 Protoculture ruins resonate with Anima Spiritia aka those with Space-Time Resonance or Fold Receptor Factor. A callback to Macross Frontier a pilot with Fold Quartz resonate with singers with Fold Waves. Hayate resonating with Freyja beat Bogue. Bogue crashed down swears revenge.

Roid realizes something about the ruins resonating with Walkure. Earlier he stopped Keith from killing Freyja.

Voldor seems to have been freed.

Look like Hayate has acquired same skill with Alto in Sayonara no Tsubasa: The Wind of Light
with help of Frejya of course who become successor of Sheryl and Ranka

New episode and Mikumo is still being shinpi mysterious.

Finally Freyja found her reason to sing and Hayate is getting better and better each episode, he even got gud and spared the jobber's life.

Kawamori keeps throwing us new songs in every episode, how many songs he still has for the rest of the series?

The wind of light can be traced back to Macross Zero (although the colour was blue). The final boss in Macross 30 can also emit the same thing with an ancient weapon, maybe Macross veterans in another thread can explain this phenomenon and its relation to birdman lore in Macross. I don't know why they showed it in the early of the series because it's supposed to be Macross main character's final move.

Heh, so basically anytime Freyja sings Hayate will get a power-up because they're in-sync with each other.

I wonder if this means Hayate can cure the VAR through his dance. Highly unlikely, I know since he needs Freyja's song to jump start his.

Heh, Bogue the sore loser, can't win with words, can't win in dogfights. That was a nice maneuver on Hayate's part though.

Oh boy...Messer was already shown to be affected by the Var song in an earlier episode, now...

Recently, in an interview Kawamori said they wanted to have a new song per episode and if we ignore op/ed as counting as being in an episode (because episode 4 had the ed as insert song) this is accurate so far.

At least 12 in total, apparently. (Also it says 1st album so they may very well be planning a second one.) I'm not complaining, I think the songs are very catchy.

Anyway, the entire second half of this episode made me grin like an idiot. Aww. AAWWWWW.

As for Messer, I think he had succumbed to Var at least once, and has some kind of predisposition that makes it easy for him to be afflicted. In an earlier episode the captain was concerned about him.

Well, it looks like Messer got PTSD during a conflict in the past, maybe he's more traumatized than he thinks? The reason for him being so distant from other people is because he truly don't want to harm them.

I think it's most likely to be Var (and the resulting PTSD, I guess), the captain specifically asked about his physical condition a while ago, and he's been shown to react badly to Heinz's song before.

Now that was a rather unusual subversion of the usual flashbang trope, where the person throws a flashbang and instantly disappears to escape. In fact, I think this is the first time I've actually seen that particular gambit fail, all because Windermerian physical prowess is such bullshit.

Also, completely loved Freyja's solo moment from beginning to end (single when?!), especially with how it boosted Hayate's Siegfried in conjunction with that obvious Fold Crystal on his necklace. The effect they used in fact is identical to the effect that Alto's YF-29 had in Wings of Goodbye, and considering that we do see the Siegfried's fold quartz light up it's a nice callback to that feature.

The rest of the Aerial Knights continue to be such jerkasses, though at least Roid somewhat rose himself out of that cesspool this episode.

Lloyd says that he wanted Walkure captured alive, but I wouldn't be chalking his motives up to altruism just yet. Seeing his reaction to seeing the ruins resonate with the song makes me think that he's either thinking that Walkure can be used to replace Heinz, or that some other idea of his, such as networking all of the Brisingr ruins together, might work. The latter would, of course, be a giant callback to the Big Bad Plan from Frontier.

Worf Effect, showcasing the Windermereans' enhanced physical attributes. Except that Mirage hasn't even set a personal performance benchmark to compare her opponents against.

In most other anime, ninjaing your way out would work. Not here.

Well, kudos to Hayate for being collected during battle and its aftermath. There are hints Bogue is swallowing the humble pie, and may just become a better person later in the plot, no matter how reluctant he might be.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bogue decided to go undercover and ended up developing a crush on Freyja or something. (Hm? That was already done in Aquarion Evol? So what!) That, or he'd get caught by Makina and Reina, the dynamics of that trio would be pretty funny.
