Wow, entire team of Walkure and some of Delta squad (even Messer and Mikumo) went on infiltration mission. Those outfits are adorable!

Apparently, team got separated at the end. This looks bad for Hayate's group with Mikage and Freyja. Cliffhanger D: another week of waiting.

Windermere has been tainting both the water supplies and apples all along. The combination of both creates Var syndrome. This explains incidents without fold waves. Windermere has been doing this for years if Macross E is any indication with Chaos fighting Var in 2063.

Voldorans were cat tree people before joining the NUN. Their entire military is under mind control which causing suffering for their families. Windermereans just don't care. They want Voldor's ruins.

Roid was talking to a Voldoran leader who repeated what Roid said. Windermereans believe they are the true inheritors of the Protoculture. Clearly having misgivings but his hands are tied.

Mikumo seems to feel a connection to the ruins. I'm suspecting she is like Mina Forte.

Bogue finds Hayate, Freyja and Mirage trapped.

Spoiler for Episode 7:

That scene with the catgirl singing to the Battroid their father is in to try and break him out of his mind control... yes, really reinforces why I think the Knights are such douchebags for having to resort to that in the first place: the unforgivable sin of making cute catgirls cry!

Anyways, lots of talking this episode, so I'm gonna need subs to properly understand everything, but it seems that Walkure and Delta Squadron just discovered the vector through which Var is spread: looks like it's a combination of a widely distributed drinking water brand plus Windermerian apples, and they discover this deep within a Research Facility erected by a Protoculture Ruin.

There's also a previous reveal via Mikumo's micro drones spying on Roid of something regarding a Dimensional Weapon, which Freyja might have seen in the past during the Windermere War of Independence.

And then the episodes ends in Hayate, Freyja and Mirage getting split off with the others due to an unfortunate series of events involving Mikumo's song, and now they're surrounded by none other than the Aerial Knights themselves in the flesh, welp.

Opening is what w have been discussing, Protoculture seeding various races.

So Yuri, so very Yuri!

Well, this episode is confirming many prior discussions.

Wind's control of planetary surface relies on the Var syndrome. Hell, they don't even look like they have enough ships to cover even one planetary surface.

Freyja thought it was Earth who forced Wind's planet on a path gradual death, but it was later reaffirmed that Wind was the one who F up. In their attempt to use said dimension weapon against the NUNs, they ended up killing millions of their own people instead. Thus the entire Wind planet is being fed lies. So yeah, Wind higher ups are total douches.

Roid doesn't deny that Windermere are the type that kills both enemies and allies as what happened with the dimension weapon to the Voldoran leader. Different from what they are telling the populace. This explains the travel restrictions and crack downs on Earth culture. Can't have the peasants revolting at what the royals and nobility did.

Though interestingly enough, Freya apparently has no problems considering she was being fed the same lies and was initially attempting to 'correct' Mirage's position.

Somebody called it earlier, Wind is tainting their apples and water, and uses it as means to transmit the Var.

Heh, hide the truth from the populace, concoct a story that twists the NUNS actions = Public support from the entire planet. Classic politics.

I wonder what the general reaction would be if the truth got out.

This is probably the first villain in Macross so far I want to be crushed throughly.

As expected, the Winds are behind the var syndrome and f*cked up the own planet, this whole conflict is just a big lie by the nobility. So it's a petty revenge for their own mistake who costed their own people and they blame the NUG for the misery they brought on themselves? Damn manchildren.

Can't wait to see the reaction of the sector and the populace when the truth will be revealed.

Can't guess without a bit more background on daily life there. I think we can safely say that Freyja has some atypical qualities, but which atypical qualities?

As far as the episode itself, I thought it was a decent mix of slapstick comedy and dramatic reveals. (Since I've been complaining about Hai-Furi's mixture of the same thing, I'll just say that Episode 7 does this by focusing on the lighter side until the very end, instead of jumping back and forth.)

The $64000 question: What is Mikumo doing?

Keith called it their shame. Roid didn't deny it to the Voldoran leader. Even if there was a third party it was likely handed to them but it was Windermere who pulled the trigger.

Dimension Weapons are banned under treaty according to Mirage. Probably immediately after the Vajra conflict.

The winds lied to their own people but the higher up know it was their own fault, not NUNS, even if a 3rd party gave the weapon to them, they're the one who decided to use it on their own people.

If the winds thinks it's acceptable to destroy their own planet for "victory", whatever happens to them is not NUNS problem anymore.

I wonder if anyone here still maintain even a thread of sympathy to the Wind at this point

I am still keeping room for a sensible explanation, but at this point, it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep an open mind.

Windermerean peasants who are innocent sure. Windermerean royalty well since they are all complicit in this war tried for war crimes.
