Is ADAPTATION a J Light Novel?

Hiyas,

If a book is not originating from Japan, does that mean it can't be classed as a J Light Novel?

Eg. Has anyone read ADAPTATION by G. C. Huxley? The story didn't originate from Japan but
  • it's a very anime-like teenage adventure
  • 3 of the main characters remind me of Shana, Yuji and Kazumi of Shakugan no Shana
http://www.huxley.id.au/adaptation (sorry, I can't find a better info link)

Thoughts? I'm not quite sure the rules of classification and, if it's not a J Light Novel, what are books like this of non-Japanese origin?

Light Novels are what one might call Young Adult or Pulp Fiction in Western countries. They're generally light reading, mostly dialogue, etc. Hence Light novel. AKA the storytelling method for the writing is somewhat different from a traditional novel.

What's considers a Light Novel really comes down to the publication.

Ah, yeah, I guess so.
I guess if this Adaptation book was published in a Japan/Belgium then the front/back covers would have had a better chance at being doing cartoon-style; that Young Adult fiction doesn't have these kind of covers because many western cultures wrongly see cartoons as only something for little kids
