No Longer in Shadows, Pentagon’s U.F.O. Unit Will Make Some Findings Public:

"Despite Pentagon statements that it disbanded a once-covert program to investigate unidentified flying objects,
the effort remains underway — renamed and tucked inside the Office of Naval Intelligence, where officials continue
to study mystifying encounters between military pilots and unidentified aerial vehicles.

Pentagon officials will not discuss the program, which is not classified but deals with classified matters. Yet it
appeared last month in a Senate committee report outlining spending on the nation’s intelligence agencies for the
coming year. The report said the program, the Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon Task Force, was “to standardize
collection and reporting” on sightings of unexplained aerial vehicles, and was to report at least some of its findings
to the public every six months.

While retired officials involved with the effort — including Harry Reid, the former Senate majority leader — hope
the program will seek evidence of vehicles from other worlds, its main focus is on discovering whether another
nation, especially any potential adversary, is using breakout aviationtechnology that could threaten the United
States.

Senator Marco Rubio, the Florida Republican who is the acting chairman of the Senate Select Committee on
Intelligence, told a CBS affiliate in Miami this month that he was primarily concerned about reports of unidentified
aircraft over American military bases — and that it was in the government’s interest to find out who was
responsible.

He expressed concerns that China or Russia or some other adversary had made “some technological leap” that
“allows them to conduct this sort of activity.”

Mr. Rubio said some of the unidentified aerial vehicles over U.S. bases possibly exhibited technologies not in the
American arsenal. But he also noted: “Maybe there is a completely, sort of, boring explanation for it. But we need
to find out.”"



"Eric W. Davis, an astrophysicist who worked as a subcontractor and then a consultant for the Pentagon U.F.O.
program since 2007, said that, in some cases, examination of the materials had so far failed to determine their
source and led him to conclude, “We couldn’t make it ourselves.”

The constraints on discussing classified programs — and the ambiguity of information cited in unclassified slides
from the briefings — have put officials who have studied U.F.O.s in the position of stating their views without
presenting any hard evidence.

Mr. Davis, who now works for Aerospace Corporation, a defense contractor, said he gave a classified briefing to
a Defense Department agency as recently as March about retrievals from “off-world vehicles not made on this

is considering the possibility that these unidentified objects could, as stated by
one source from the U.S. Intelligence Community said, be operated by
“intelligences of unknown origin.”

Significantly, a retired U.S. Air Force brigadier general and head of RAND
corporation’s Space Enterprise Initiative has—for the first time—gone on record to
discuss some of the most likely explanations for UAP. His responses were
surprising."


"One of the intelligence reports, released in 2018, is said to have provided a
general overview of the UAP topic and included details of previous military
encounters. According to sources who had read it, the report also contained an
unreleased photograph of an “aerial phenomena” categorized as “unidentified.”

The Debrief was told the accompanying photo was captured from within the
cockpit of an F/A-18 fighter jet with a pilot’s personal cell phone. According to
three U.S. officials who had seen it, the photo showed an unidentified silver “cube-
shaped” object. The report is said to have indicated the object was “hovering” or
completely motionless when military pilots encountered it. All three officials agreed
that based on the photo, the object appeared to be at an altitude of roughly
30,000 to 35,000 feet and approximately 1,000 feet from the fighter jet."

NASA is launching a further investigation into UFO sightings. The
agency's chief says it can't rule out the possibility that sightings
are of alien origin.

"NASA's new chief, Bill Nelson, is setting up an investigation to further study the
existence of unidentified flying objects within his first month in office, CNN Business
reports.

In an interview with the news outlet, Nelson said it's still a mystery to everyone - even

China has announced there has been an increase of mysterious and unexplained

civilian sources” by what the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) are calling “unidentified air

Pentagon Likely Thinks UFOs 'Not Human,' Astrophysicist Says
Ahead of Report

"It is "reasonable" to conclude that the U.S. government thinks some unidentified aerial
phenomena (UAP) are not human-made, a Harvard astrophysicist has said.

This week, the U.S. government is expected to release a highly anticipated report into
the existence of UAPs—essentially UFOs.

Avi Loeb, Frank B. Baird Jr. Professor of Science at Harvard's Department of
Astronomy, believes the existence of UAPs would not have been revealed to the public
if their origins were from China or Russia and posed a national security risk, he wrote in
an op-ed for Scientific American magazine.

Loeb added: "Hence, it is reasonable to conclude that the U.S. government believes
that some of these objects are not human in origin."

The astrophysicist said this suggests two scenarios: That UAPs are natural phenomena;
or that they are "extraterrestrial in origin.""

"Think about it. UFOs going back to 1947 have been showing off the same capabilities
that the ones we are seeing now. China or Russia did not put those UFOs from the
1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s in the air. If they’re real, if we don’t make them, if other
nations don’t make them, then somebody else does. Might not be E.T., might be
something stranger — ultra-terrestrials, time travelers, a simulation of reality, whatever.

We are currently at Phase One. The UAP Report is probably going to escalate us to
Phase Two. The next months or years will be devoted to sorting out Phase Three.
Sometime in the 2020s we are going to get to Phase Four.

People who know about such things probably believe that this slow steady roll-out is
the best way to avoid War of the Worlds style panic. We’ll be like that frog in the jar as
the temperature is slowly raised who never jumps out. One day we’ll all be able to look
around and wonder what took us so long."

Government Report On UFOs Offers Limited Answers While
Drawing The Public Spotlight

"There were several curious references in the document. Despite the limited data, the
UAPTF claimed it was possible to perform some clustering of data around "shape, size,
and particularly, propulsion." It was unclear what kind of propulsion the report is
referencing. Examples might include prop, rotor, lighter than air, jet or some unknown
category. In areas like these, the report did not offer specifics.

Further, the authors of the report stated that 18 incidents described in 21 reports
involved "unusual UAP movement patterns." These unusual patterns are not described
in detail, but are loosely characterized as involving abrupt maneuvering, remaining
stationary against the wind, and moving at considerable speed without "discernible
means of propulsion." Earlier in the report, the UAPTF notes that observations of
unusual flight characteristics “could be the result of sensor errors, spoofing, or observer
misperception and require additional rigorous analysis.” The report itself again provides
no details about the data underlying the 21 reports.

The UAPTF stated that a "small amount of data" supported UAP "demonstrating
acceleration or a degree of signature management." The reference to "signature
management" likely refers to some aspect of stealth technology, traditionally having to
do with reducing a craft’s radar, infrared, visual, and/or audible signature. However, the
report also cautioned that additional analysis would be necessary, including by multiple
teams or groups of technical experts. The report states: "we are conducting further
analysis to determine if breakthrough technologies were demonstrated."

Although much of the underlying data appears in doubt, the report asserts one strong
conclusion: "UAP threaten flight safety and, possibly, national security." The report again
offered few details, but indicated that 11 incidents involved "near misses with a UAP."
Further, the report acknowledged that there could be a broader danger from espionage
against military activities and facilities, or from a potential "breakthrough aerospace
technology."

The UAPTF emphasized the need to standardize and consolidate reporting of incidents
in order to deepen the analysis. The report mentions the use of artificial intelligence and
machine learning to "cluster and recognize similarities and patterns.""

"In yet another example of a UFO puzzle piece hiding in full view and ignored by the mainstream media, emails
published in 2016 by Wikileaks refer to regular tracking of UAPs that’s allegedly recorded them arriving from
“deep space” and disappearing beneath the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida.

The emails — between Hillary Clinton’s former campaign chairman John Podesta and former IT contractor Bob
Fish — were publicly available in 2016 as reporters Leslie Kean and Ralph Blumenthal were working on a story
for the New York Times disclosing that the Pentagon had been secretly studying UFOs for the past decade.
However, neither that groundbreaking article, nor any subsequent reporting on the phenomenon by other
mainstream media outlets has mentioned the Podesta-Fish emails."

He went on to claim that the federal government does collect hard UFO data with its Defense Support Program
(DSP) satellites, which have orbited Earth since the 1970s. The U.S. Air Force describes these as “a key part of
North America’s early warning systems” by detecting missile launches, space launches and nuclear detonations."


"Fish wrote Podesta another email the next day, March 6. Reading some UFO material online had jogged his
memory about another incident, which he says took place in the cafeteria building in El Segundo:

“I had lunch with a senior USAF NCO who had worked for Project Blue Book in the 1970s (after it had been
“officially disbanded). He was an ELINT technician (electronic intelligence) who flew in RC-135s from MacDill AFB
in Florida. The ‘normal’ target was Cuba where they did lots of snooping and sometimes challenging the Cubans
to turn on radar and other systems.

He said there were times when they were diverted from these missions to track UFOs off the east coast of
Florida. His claim was the UFOs had a landing and takeoff spot in the ocean east of Miami, north of Bermuda. He
also claimed there was a specific electronic signature (frequency) emanating from them when they were going
into or coming out of the water, so they were easy to track. On several occasions they filmed the UFO as it
transitioned from water to air or vice versa.”"

but one might imagine that you get a report from a pilot who says, “Lue, it’s really
weird. I was flying and I got close to this thing and I came back home and it was like I

a new organization focused on the issue of so-called unidentified aerial

Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks issued the memorandum, seen
below, regarding the establishment of the Airborne Object Identification and
Management Synchronization Group (AOIMSG) under the Office of the
Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security, or USD(I&S), on Nov. 23,
2021. Though publicly available, the memo is specifically directed to senior
Pentagon leadership, commanders of the U.S. military's combatant commands, and
defense agency and field activity directors. The latter category would include
intelligence agencies within the Department of Defense, such as the Defense
Intelligence Agency (DIA), National Security Agency (NSA), and National Geospatial-
Intelligence Agency (NGA). A copy was also forwarded to the Director of National
Intelligence (DNI), who oversees the U.S. Intelligence Community."

"American officials and analysts globally are raising alarm about a new Defense
Department office that will handle the U.S. government’s examination of unidentified
flying objects, warning that the move indicates the military wants to end a brief spell of
transparency and shove UFO reports back into a closet under lock and key.

The Pentagon quietly announced the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving that it had
formed the esoteric-sounding Airborne Object Identification and Management
Synchronization Group. Working with the intelligence agencies, it serves as the follow-
on to a government-wide effort earlier this year to document and analyze reports of
encounters with unidentified objects – “Unidentified Aerial Phenomena” or UAPs in
Pentagon jargon – predominantly from military pilots.

The new office, which reports to the undersecretary of defense for Intelligence and
Security, will now oversee the entire government’s study of UFOs, focusing on sightings
within restricted military airspace and will also “assess and mitigate any associated
threats to safety of flight and national security,” a spokeswoman says.

The Defense Department has since justified the composition of the office as necessary
to provide uniformity to the reporting process and subsequent analysis.

But some researchers characterize the Pentagon’s latest move as an “insulting”
attempt to run around specific efforts by civilian organizations and leaders in Congress
to exercise greater oversight over the government’s study of UFOs.

“It represents a brazen step towards completely stifling the burgeoning demand from
both the public and Congress for increased UFO transparency,” says Peter Whitley, a
researcher based in Japan and a member of the Mutual UFO Network, or MUFON,
which considers itself one of the largest and oldest of its kind. “Clearly, the DOD is
attempting to reverse course on this trend and shut the door on further disclosure of
any kind.”

damage and 'perceived time suspension', according to interviews
in newly released Pentagon report from 2010:

"US intelligence officials have evidence that UFO sightings have lead to adverse health
effects like radiation burns, paralysis and even brain damage, according to a newly
released report from a shadowy Pentagon program that closed in 2012.

The study classifies different types of encounters with unidentified objects, including

"A “clearly upset” Reid wanted to know what he should do with Elizondo’s resignation letter and demanded he come to
see him at the Pentagon. When Elizondo declined the invitation, Reid reportedly threatened him, saying he would “tell
people you are crazy, and it might impact your security clearance.”

By November, Elizondo said he received several phone calls from former colleagues at OUSD(I&S) warning him that Reid
and “Employee 1” (from the IG complaint) were “coming after him.”

This could be written off as an apparently emotional and volatile former boss blowing off steam. However, it would
seem, Reid indeed did attempt to make good on his threats."

Congress To Hold First Public UFO Hearing In Over 50 Years Next Week

"Two senior U.S. military officials are scheduled to testify next week at the first open
Congressional hearing on UFOs in more than 50 years.

“Americans need to know more about these unexplained occurrences,” Indiana Democrat
Andre Carson announced Tuesday morning in a tweet.

Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence & Security Ronald S. Moultrie and Deputy
Director of Naval Intelligence Scott W. Bray are scheduled to testify May 17 before the
House Intelligence Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence and Counterproliferation
Subcommittee."
