Anyway, a good episode, all the things boiling under the surface have come to a head, and it's hard not to feel sympathetic to Kuro after seeing her point of view on this. Looks like it's time for a climatic fight scene next time. |

I never was a fan of Illya, regardless of her "version", but I can't blame her exactly because Kuro never talked nor made her point clear.
To begin with, Kuro's existence wasn't explained at all, and she kept her mouth shut. Worse, she just appeared out of nowhere and tried to kill Illya without explaining her reasons whatsoever. At this point, Illya's reactions and actions thus far were the most logical (albeit childish at times). Kuro's logic is really sketchy at best because "returning to a normal life" doesn't mean she wants the very same situation before Rin and Luvia showed up about the cards. It doesn't mean Illya wishes to cut ties with everyone else, but simply avoid being dragged in that messy situation. If Kuro didn't show up with killing intent right from the get go, things would have been less silly to me, but as far as it was presented, Illya hardly did anything wrong. To begin with, Kuro is the one who keep repeating that coexistence isn't possible. Of course things aren't going to be solved if one keep a staunch position like that.

Those scenes with Shirou and the butler were gold
Illya should think more before speaking. This isn't the first time her words hurt somebody. This time, it was Kuro that was hurt by her thoughtless wish. She didn't mean anything by that, but it's true that her words could be interpreted this way. To be fair though, Illya doesn't really have a reason to want Kuro -who has been constantly messing with her- to stay in her life. If Kuro were more open with her feelings and explained everything to Illya, I'm sure they could coexist. She seems to have all of Illya's memories after all, so they can't be that different.

As may often be the case there are multiple causes for the situation turning out like this.
Kuro has her side of it going right after Illya at the start and keeping a lot of truths in the dark. While she may have reasons for it, that does make the situation more difficult. Revealing she has the card isn't a big deal either way since you'd assume such. She's constantly using the archer abilities after all. While she has gone to school and acted normally at times, she hasn't really tried to let Illya in. Illya as well hasn't helped the situation that much. Even times where Kuro hasn't acted aggressively she's taken a stance of denying Kuro. Constantly focusing on her normal life and wanting Kuro to disappear or stay in a hole out of sight. She laid the foundation to presume that normal life means getting rid of the abnormal existences that are currently in her life. Though given time Illya has seemed to figure it out. Now the question is if she can resolve the current situation. Certainly Kuro seems to have a good grasp of Illya's memories and knowing all the people around her. Maybe she is reading all that and having decided that Illya would reject her existence just decided to take this route. Both seem to be rather stubborn in their own ways. It's not the prettiest situation. Once we can get to the truth about Kuro maybe we can get a better understanding of things. Be easier to get a feel for Kuro's actions if we knew everything about what was driving them. Some things can be inferred, but others are less clear.

Kuro may not be completely "right" as her failure to communicate has contributed to some of the issues, but neither is she "wrong." Illya doesn't think about how her words and actions may affect others. She's not in a position where she can get away with that sort of thoughtlessness any more.

I can only imagine the BD version of this episode.
Also, Kuro smashing that mirror with a towel made far more sense than the manga version, which if I recall was her smashing the marble figure in the middle of the bath with said towel. |

While Ilya is at fault for not thinking through how her words can affect others Kuro is also at fault for trying to kill Ilya without explaining her reasons, keeping secrets, and sorta assuming the worst case scenario after hearing Ilya's words. She also never attempted to let Ilya get close to her but Ilya constantly denied her and pushed her away so Ilya could be blamed too. They both are responsible for the current mess (Kuro more so in my opinion).
It was nice that Miyu continued to fight for Ilya despite Kuro's words not to mention those Shiro scenes were hilarious

Yeah, I agree that Kuro hasn't done much to give me pity for her. Her repeating of coexistence between her and Illya being impossible is just as bad if not worse cause her actions have consequences. I'll see how I feel next episode.
The episode was fine, I suppose. Though I think its about time for the plot to move forward a little more. |

The answer is S-I-M-P-L-E, Kuro have to talk it over with the others, not having to assault anyone whatever her goal is.
Iliya was desperate to conseal Kuro from Sella and Shiro. Even Rin was cautious about Kuro that she kept Kuro in check if she exposed herself to the outsiders or not. As of now, only in the school she can attend as Iliya's cousin to keep her in surveillance. We still do not know what is Kuro's motive is until she open her mouth of truth or lies. |

Even though Illya was the victim there, she still asked Kuro's reasons, and the latter didn't even bother. If it wasn't for the blood curse, Kuro would still be chasing after Illya's life. Kuro never tried any other approach, and I can't blame Illya for not meddling with Kuro considering she never made any apparent action that would warrant a death sentence. If you add Kuro's uncanny behaviour, I can't see how Illya is supposed to get along with her, let alone understanding her. Even when she gave up due to Rin's curse, Kuro didn't change her stance and even tried to mess Illya's life by posing as the latter. Why would she care about the words she use when it is about her own life, that "seemly" doesn't have anything to do with someone who tried to murder her? Prior that point of the series, there wasn't anything obvious for Illya that "returning to normal life" would affect Kuro, and the latter was already trying to eliminate the former. Hell, during their first encounter, even though Illya wants a normal life, she -tried- to befriend (or at least shows herself as a non hostile person) Kuro, who immediately tried to off her head. If anything, Kuro was the one being the most inconsiderate between the two by a very long shot.

It felt more like mirroring UBW's events to me.
Spoiler for UBW:
It would have made a bit more sense if Silver Link had not changed some parts in the first season. Illya's wish for normalcy (and what that would mean) stems from the first manga, when she wanted to give up after remembering how she killed Saber and Assassin. |
