Think I like the first opening animation and ending song more, but these are still very good too, they just had a lot to cover. And more Akatsuki is always good too.
A bit of a recap but a lot of foreshadowing for this season too. A lot of plot lines in motion, wonder which will get focus first, or if they'll switch between them. I hope they don't switch too much between them, but eager to see them all animated, can't wait. Last edited by Random14; 2014-10-04 at 07:27. |

Well... It's not bad as I afraid of. Character design is a bit weird, but after watch it in animation it OK. And because it's DEEN. Now I can expect some action scene. But really, just reuse OP show how low budget this series has. With it story if it got good animation studio and more budget, it would get a lot better than this. For now I will wait and see what will season 2 go.

Spoilerish? nah. Teaserish, yes.
Spoiler is only spoiler with context, otherwise it's just a teaser. Quote:
They don't always do it, but cases like Twelve Kingdoms where the same OP theme was used for what... three seasons?

Solid first episode, didn't waste much time and jumped straight into the plot. I honestly don't have much to complain about here, all of the characters we know and love are back, Shiroe has a new dilemma (and seemingly a new advisary), we learn more about the world, etc. Everything is fine, really. Though I do wonder what that last scene meant....
Visually speaking, DEEN did good work here. I'm not so sure why everyone was worried about them animating this season since Statelight's animation is below that of what DEEN is capable of. Some of the new character designs will take some getting used to, however (what on earth is with Marie's angular hair?). So all-in-all, solid start, good to have this show back. P.S: The ED was adorable.

Strong first episode, it was able to act as both a set-up and recap episode without being mundane. The only slight problem I had was the questionable ending. Was there any reason for the time-skip to christmas eve? I mean given that it is the first episode, they will probably explain it later, but still it feels a little weird

Episode 1 did not disappoint (or maybe i just set my expectations too low because DEEN). I don't have a problem with the animation and i actually enjoy some character designs more than the S1 ones, although others will take getting used to. Other than the end of the episode everything else was perfect story, set-up and character wise. Nothing much to say about the ED other than it was cute. Also so glad they kept the opening, now my counteraction is gonna start rising every week.

Not a bad start really. Maybe trying too hard to set up all the plotlines and tease where it is going.
Doesn't appear Akatsuki's worries have dampened all that much. Still must be odd having such a younger girl as a rival, but there you go. Curious what kind of job she's being left to take care of. Hopefully something rather important that he couldn't let her come along for this. And now to deal with the money issues.

Funny thing is I don't think Minori is a rival, except in Akatsuki's head. Minori is -14-. There's no way Shiroe's going to be romancing a 14 year old. It really tells you something about Akatsuki's life before they got trapped that she seriously thinks a 14 year old is a romantic rival.
I liked it. It felt a little rough with the re-establishing, but that happens. I don't like some of the new designs, though. Particularly Maryelle and William Masachusetts.

Didn't like some of the character design changes...particularly Kanami. Her face became more cartoony and the increased bust size looks disproportionate to her body.
OP animation, I preferred the first season as well. It was more adrenaline fueled and got me pumped up for the episodes with all the jumping around they did compared to this one. |
