strange hollow sound effect

ys its strange but ever since i came back from holiday somehting has changed in my settings, all sound like things, anime, teamspeak etc. i hear sound hollow as if it was recorded by someone while playing it in a huge cave or something

this counts for all sounds i play or get through, im no wiz kid and have no clue on what the problem may be and where to find it in my windows settings but i do know that it is really annoying and i want to get rid of it

can anyone help me out and tell me what setting change may have changed my sound hearing

i tried to put my sound box options thingy from surround to headset but that didnt change anything at all

the last thing i remember installing was the DivX bundle but that things has been removedbut with no changes

With a vague maybe I'ld suggest to look for the microphone volume control (not recording but playback). If the playback of microphone is not muted in the volume control, I'ld say mute it. Microphone recording is still possible that way, but there won't be feedbacks (which may sound like a hollow echo).

maybe you got some 3d sound emulation program running, most soundcard comes with a program that you can tweak to emulate sound effects(auditorium, caves, church etc.) look around your programs if it comes with a sound software or something.
