Manga 'Araburu Kisetsu no Otome-domo yo' (O Maidens in Your Savage Season) is getting a TV anime adaptation. The story is written by Mari Okada.

Plot

The girls in a high school literature club do a little icebreaker to get to know each other: answering the question, "What's one thing you want to do before you die?" One of the girls blurts out, "Sex." Little do they know, the whirlwind unleashed by that word pushes each of these girls, with different backgrounds and personalities, onto their own clumsy, funny, painful, and emotional paths toward adulthood.

Okada being involved with this reminded me of when I read about Anohana supposedly starting off as more of a comedy dealing with teenagers entering into adulthood and being a bit more raunchy before it ended up being what everyone remembers Anohana being .

Read the few chapters of this and laughed my arse off at the big "reveal" early on. Will definitely watch.

For the record, there is a lot of innuendo and crudeness as you'd expect from immature teenagers. Just a warning.

Well, this manga actually turns pretty heavy on the drama department later on so I guess that's why they have Okada on board.

Having recently discovered the manga was out in English already I picked up the first volume on the grounds that I've liked most of Okada's stuff (exception being that gloomy mecha anime I forget the name of) that I've seen.

It's hilarious. The first five pages' ever so flowery description of cunnilingus had me in stitches. After that it just got better. I'm totally looking forward to the anime now.

Please tell me this story isn't too vulgar in its take. I get that it's focused on sex, but I've seen stories that claim you need to have sex to determine if it's the "right person" or worse claim that love is just a matter of who you most want to screw.

This is just an overdramatic romance kind of series. It doesn't have a lot to do with sex. What it does have is love triangles, cheating and so on.

Might watch then, though the cheating part may be an issue as I really detest stuff with infidelity, especially if it's treated as someone not being able to control him/herself or something.

While the first few chapters are more light-hearted, I wouldn't go as far as to say it starts off as a comedy. I'm more inclined to say it starts off as a slightly off-kilter drama and turns into generic melodrama fest.
