I have nobooody...on my oooown...woooh...

LOL. And people say art can soothe one's soul...

Minor update, as I'm having a few issues with my good brushes - something I can't get them just right nowadays and I increasingly find myself looking left and right for something that might have evaded my quest for innovation and change. *sigh*

Looks like I'll have to go brush-hunting these next few days...

Perhaps a bit too much coverage for her hair?

But dam...it reminds me how much I can't wait for the new season to air ;___;

Well, yeah - for a certain time it yielded good results, not to mention it made for a fitting atmosphere with certain renders. Now, though, I'm trying to look elsewhere as I'm already seeing another creative hiatus rearing its ugly head in the horizon (it seems like a leitmotif for me: belt out a series of 'good' sigs, then devolve and stop for a while until creativity comes back with a bang). As for the back of Kallen's head, I'm afraid I erased too much of the render for the sake of overall blending and it went balls-up.

And I didn't go up to 200Mb. I only dled 80Mb, sixty-five percent of which went to CS2, the rest to PSE2.0 (I mainly use the latter, btw).

I tried my luck with a smudging spree as it's been a long time since I last did one of those.

Now my issues revolve around colors and overall tints. I tried giving it an orange-ish hue, but it seems I can't find a good, middle ground where the original colors are still visible enough. Oh, well...

Ah so, well for me, I usually made a copy of the render and send it to the bottom and hide it.. That way, I still have backup in case things screw up, which happens, everytime

And for the last lancelot sig, its good overall, but lacking in something IMO, altho i cant pinpoint it exactly. I think as you said, its the color problem.. too monotonous.

I lowered the saturation level because the original colors were starting to clash against each other - I thought I could fix the issue by adding an orange hue layer on top, but in the end, it made things worse and I had to shred it.

Also, I often decrease the bg's sat levels in order to make the render 'pop out', so don't be too surprised for the aforementioned lack of colors. I learned my lessons with overbearing bgs stealing the spotlight from the character and am trying to find a compromise through various means - either blurs, gradients or lower saturations.

Edit one: another 'quick' one for the road - grunge this time.

Strangely, I seem to prefer the slightly larger version. Perhaps it feels less cramped. Oh, hell - I'll decide later on whether I'll 'finalize' the first version or just stick to the 'squeezed' variant.

Edit two:
- Simple & overfairybrushed versions.

I'm trying realistic sceneries this time. This one started as an exercise with Japanese-looking backgrounds and ended up as wall with a window in the middle of it (the bg should have shown a waterfall). A pity I didn't save the bg separately...I liked the way the moss-covered rocks turned out. T_T Alzheimer again. Oooh, man...

Severe apologies for double posting. Just a bump.

New sig around the block - this time on a more more stable Windows XP (I managed to crash my PC a few days ago thanks to my meddling with memory and registers). Probably what I'll submit for the new SOTM challenge. On a side note, it's amusing for me to note that, recently, I've been making 'narrow' and 'wide' versions of my sigs - as I'm not sure which one is the best. Did it for the two thingies above and it seems it won't end anytime soon.

- Short version.
- Wide version.

The rapids in the background were the hardest to make. I used a brush from DeviantArt and simply had to color the rocks and whatnot - but, hell, aren't those hard to make realistic...

So, tell me, which one should I choose? The 'narrow' one or the 'wide' one?

Personally the narrow one looks better. Did you paint the BG yourself?

The waterfall brush comes from DeviantArt - I simply applied variants of green, brown and light orange to simulate moss and eroded stone. I forgot to color one of the rocks on the lower left corner, though, but since it's masked by the render and the foliage, I didn't bother fixing it. The trickiest was to find the correct shade of blue for the water, as I wasn't sure how bright it had to be but in the end I think it turned out realistic (yeah, I'm completely obsessed with that) enough.

Thanks for the advice, though - my earliest impression was that the 'wide' version had the render a little more in the middle but maybe narrowing it will indeed take the viewer's attention off the bg. I'll have to keep that in mind, although I keep getting the feeling that narrowing the whole thing made it feel a little...cramped in comparison. Oh, well, too bad.

The wide version shows off the BG too much and the waterfall pciture becomes more obvious. Sigs always look better when you don't know what people did to them.

Anyways great job on the painting/coloring. *Hands a cookie

ROFL. I had issues for her left arm, as the picture was cropped and I'm not that well-acquainted with vectoring and whatnot - so I had to make due with what I had.

The render comes from Minitokyo - in the 'Others' or the 'Unknown' section. Can't remember which one of the two, though. The other renders, unfortunately, were a pain in my nether regions, so I elected this one, which yielded a more aesthetic and practical feeling than its other counterparts.

Sorry for the veeery long delay (I've been busy with a not-so-stable computer, part-time work, real life and exams in the meantime), but yeah, you've got the green lights.

For now I'm on a slight hiatus as I'm busy studying and all that but I'll probably be drop in from time to time and deliver what little I can come up with.

Another round of severe, heartfelt apologies for double-posting. Just wanted to throw in a humble update. RL's been a b(leep) and I haven't managed to do anything remotely decent in a while. Lost the rhythm, lost the inspiration, lost the free time.

So I tried this - it started as a smudge and somehow, yes, somehow...it ended as a sparkle sig. The world indeed works in strange ways.

I merely regret that the pic wasn't available in higher-res. I had to use flares, blurs and a range of other effects to lessen the contrast between the render's thicker lines and the background's sharper looks.

Cheers, though.
