Saying Qin is in deep shit would be the understatement of the century.

Production values have gone up, and there seems to be a bit more blood now. Bodes well.

It doesn't help that the subs and the vocal track use the different readings for all those names.

I see no problem with subs using a Chinese reading for the names. When you watch an anime, based on Romance of the Three Kingdoms, for example, no one in their right mind will use Ryu Bi and Shokatsu Ryo for the subs instead of Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang. It’s the same thing here.

Where they lose me is having Japanese readings for the names in the first place. Why is that necessary? Yeah, I get it - Kanji can be read differently - but these are Chinese warriors. Why not just use Chinese readings in the vocal track?

I don’t really think I’ve ever heard Chinese reading in Japanese media to be honest. Whether we’re talking about Kingdom, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Journey to the West or any other novel or historical text. And it’s not that it’s Japan-exclusive thing. Most countries change the name of certain historical figures. Take Jeanne d’Arc/Joan of Arc, Pyotr I/Peter I, Andrei Bogolyubskiy/Andrew the Pious (I had a particular WTF on that one. It’s not even the right translation).

The French translation uses the Japanese reading for both the anime and the manga. I think the Japanese names are easier to remember so I like it better this way.

And another show joins the ranks of the delayed ones. It was expected of course, since it's not like this season was going to be a single cour.
