Uou, the lack of activity in this thread is seriously depressing considering how popular the original show was. Did everyone get their bento eaten by a Titan or something?

Anyway I finally got around to watching this up to the 3rd episode and its pretty damned fun but one thing I don't get: why is Armin so cold all the time? Am I missing some reference?

Well, I did mention in other threads before...

Comedy shows rarely gets popularity unless it have a really deep story line to it.

Usually only shows that contains war and violence gets a lot of discussion because people are attracted to those by nature.

Mini-shows like this where they turn the original story into comedy isn't discussed much because the anime doesn't give you anything to discuss because there's no question needed because the anime is already good enough.

However, being good is bad for the show because if no one discuss it, it means it gets low popularity from the people that do rankings based on these and such and the show just gets blahed.

If you're talking about the scene where Eren jumps from the roof with a broom on one hand and a chalk extender on the other I believe it's a slightly tweaked version of Bauklötze.
