The light novel series '86' is getting a TV anime adaptation.

Plot Summary

The Republic of San Magnolia.

For a long time, this country has been besieged by its neighbor, the Empire, which created a series of unmanned military vehicles called the Legion. In response to the threat, the Republic successfully completes the development of similar technology and fights off the enemy's attack, having managed to do so without casualties. But this is the official version. In fact, there were victims. Outside of 85 districts of the Republic, there was actually another one—"the non-existent 86th district." It was there that day and night continued the battles in which young men and women, known as Eighty-Sixers, participated—they fought in drones...

Shinn directs the actions of a detachment of young Eighty-Sixers while on the battlefield. Lena is a "handler" who commands the detachment from the remote rear with the help of special communication.

The tragic struggle of these two begins!

I didn't immediately assume a Harem, just that the focal relationship is between the male and female leads. Granted, it's a light novel, but still .

Considering that they are featured prominently on the cover, that's not exactly an out-of-touch assumption.

Ahaha, from the time i saw this in kono light novel ga sugoi, I knew this was gonna get an anime eventually. Here's hoping sabikui bisco will get an anime too, one day. Honestly, I'm hoping more LN like this and bisco will get more attention.

This would be way overkill. There is by far not enough material for 12-13 episodes. Also, it would leave people quite confused at the end. If it's one-cour the most sense would be to adapt the first three volumes, which form a continuous whole from a storytelling perspective.

The best thing I can say about the footage is that it definitely looks like 86 in animated form !

I know people were worried from the initial Key Visual, but that looks like Shin and Lena to me. Lena also sounds much better from the initial teaser. I wasn't quite sure about Shin but he sounded good at the end .

It's also kind of neat seeing the Republic and the battlefield in visual form .

The CG for the Mecha looks pretty good, which I know people are generally pretty worried about. Looks like they'll move as well as they do in the LN .

Hiroyuki Sawano? Vocal tracks? I'm in .

And that is a perfect key visual with Shin and Lena together, Lena looking gorgeous and Shin sitting on the battlefield like he's seen some @#$% .

Like a lot of people I was worried when I looked at the key visual, but the trailer looks great. Can't wait for this
