One Punch Man Season 3
One Punch Man is apparently getting a third season. Saw several social media posts these today and we're getting a 'big announcement' sometimes at noon today in Japan. There's also rumors that another studio is handling the project.

It doesn’t have to be Madhouse for fans to be hopeful, but it sure as hell can’t be JC Staff. It would be great to have Natsume back at the helm but that’s not absolutely necessary either.

Season 2 might have been a special case, but 2.5 years passed between announcing a second season and the first episode of it being aired. Then again, the arc can't be completed in 12 episodes, so they could make Season 4 announcement afterwards or this will be a split-cour, but that way the waiting will be real. |

Well, in terms of flashy action scenes JC Staff isn't really well-equipped for that since most of S2's action was made by Aoki who is a relatively new addition to the animators of the studio. But to call it awful is probably something I can't do, especially if the comparison is, as I said, a once-in-a-decade assembly of freelancers.
As for Murata, I feel like the guy's greatness in making panels that are almost key animation frames actually hurts the whole story coz it has taken away attention from ONE's storytelling of his own story. Casual fans would usually associate OPM nowadays with the Murata version, and so this standard is now expected by readers. I personally prefer ONE's "Saitama struggles with daily life while beating up mooks on the side" over that side of the story where he solves problems with one punch.

JC Staff couldn’t even give consistently good animation to S3 of Index, one of their top titles. (some of those S3 episodes were downright awful, especially in the later half of the season) They’re certainly not going to give great animation to a title that’s not one of their tops. Date A Live S3 suffered from this too. Pretty much the only titles they’ll go the long drive for are Danmachi and Railgun.

But they did it to Danmachi and Railgun. JC Staff's main problem is being asked to (emphasis here and not on "picking up") do specific anime projects to the point of overworking the studio. I still believe that JC Staff can do great shows, but only if they aren't asked by so many production committees to animate this show or that show.

Doesn't help if a series has too many "normies" for fans though Well, if JC wants to make a new season of Railgun, they should stop forcing them to also make another season of Index. I'd like to say this is just me guessing, but it was dang obvious how little they cared about Index and how much they loved Railgun when a single scene of Saten-san playing with a ball was better animated than most of Index S3

Exactly. Index is still one of JC’s tops, but my whole point was that their pickup titles won’t get great animation when Index is getting passed over by another one of their tops (Railgun) for the animation budget.

Nah, it was awful. Not only were the action sequences terrible but it was a mess narratively. The pacing was off, the characters were consistently off-model, and there was no artistry to it at all.

My example would be the whole series, TBH. If you disagree that's fine.
It's also worth pointing out that JC Staff now is not the JC Staff of Waiting in the Summer, et al. Their entire raison d'etre is "low bid". It's either bad CGI like Duke of Death, or minimal to non-existent animation and no-faces like Rose King. It doesn't make me happy - it's a studio with a great if somewhat inconsistent history in anime. But now? Just a bottom-feeder, sadly.
