<Char's Counterattack> Movie vs Novel
Hey all,
This is a topic which is intended to be broad because of the fact that the novel "Char's Counterattack: Beltochia's Child" isn't available, or is hard to get, here in North America. Well, to start off the discussion, i'm just wondering how well, or how bad, the Gundam Franchise would change if the movie was based exactly, with every detail, from the novel. - Amuro's kid being born --> Emergence of direct lineage of 2nd generation Newtype - Final battle between Char and Amuro were in the uber mobile suits Hi-Nu and Nightengale Just some points to consider. |

For starters, Zeonic-Corps have the first two chapters of Beltorchika's Children translated. Amble on over to their forums.
As for Beltorchika's Children itself ... I would think that a fully accurate movie version of the book, instead of what Char's Counterattack really was, would have been much better. The Hi-Nu, in my opinion, is one of the greatest Gundam designs to be done. It stands up there with my favourites, the Ex-S and the Zeta series. It's got everything - fin funnels, powerful bazooka launcher, great close combat ability, a high mega launcher like the Hyakushiki's that plugged into the Ra Cailum's reactor, the works. The Nightingale was similarly impressive - extra hidden arms a la The O, ten funnels, and so on. |

There's quite a few crazy moments in the novel though.
Most memorable are :- Amuro's unborn kid generated a personal I-field for Belto. Quess goes out searching for Char in the Jaged Doga wearing just her undie. Tomino's visions are just too wild to be animated. |
