I hope it wil go on & on .

But I have a problem with what certainly other concerns too.
I do not know if others have written about, but I guess not.

I have a Multimedia Harddrive for my TV .It can operated in FullHD. It is one that can play .mkv files. Everything works great. But it can't play AAC codec, and other variations thereof. The outcome: Very good picture , thanks to 1280x720 files but no sound .

My question now is, if you could use a different codec like ac3 or mp3 ?!

P.S. If the file is a little bigger, it would not disturb me and or the ohter one's I believe . Since the files with a resolution of 1280x720 are already quite large.

It can play h.264 but not aac audio?

That's highly unlikely. What's more possible is that its mkv demuxer can't handle aac, but it could probably play it back as a separate .m4a or .mp4 file.

Can your player handle mp4? You could try remuxing the mkv files into mp4 files using a program like "yamb". It won't work for variable frame rate stuff, but it should work for other things, and isn't complicated.

Yea I would try this, about vfr, almost no groups use it, the first and last time I remember groups using vfr was Eclipse and ANBU's White Album release (there are prolly more but still alomost noone uses it).

If that doesn't work, do not expect fansubbers to mux releases with mp3 or ac3 just to make you happy.

Ahem, VFR mp4 is very possible.

Also, remuxing to mp4 most likely will not work, unless you enjoy having no subtitles. (I'm assuming it is softsubbed, as most of this form of rels are nowadays)

You'll have an easier time fixing your setup so that it can play AAC than you will convincing people not to use it. But you could always extract the AAC, transcode to MP3, and remux. The audio quality would suffer a bit but it would probably be the easiest way to handle soft-subbed releases.

Well, he wants to play them back on a hardware player that supports mkv, which almost certainly won't play back softsubs anyway.

And I know vfr mp4 is possible (hell I was one of the first people to ever attempt it like 3 years ago), I was just saying that using yamb to remux wouldn't work with a vfr source.
