Wow. Just wow.
SAO ~the Alternative~ strikes again. NPCs having personality? Really? I still think Log Horizon's world is more of a real Game World where the players got interfaced with it and stuff.... ...also, sad newbs is sad. Kinda sucks when it happens like that.

I guess I'll post my questions on the episode here to celebrate the birth of this sub-forum (and kick off discussion, maybe)!

Well he was busy at the beginning and forgot about them until recently. Also he said that they were in a guild so shiroe probably thinks they are doing fine without his help and there is no need to check up on them (remember he is more introverted than a normal person and usually doesnt strike up a conversation just for the fun of it)

Shiroe lost the chance to talk to the twins when he saw them with a guild. He doesn't want to get himself involved much when it comes to guild and his pretty much a loner. Unless you strike a conversation yourself.
Plus Shiroe and Naotsugu are real life buddies. Which is why Shiroe was happy when he saw Naotsugu online. And I can't call it SAO alternative if the 2 are SOOOOOOO vastly different -_-

it's quite sad that Touya and Minori got in horrible situation... or I could say it's a slavery
another slow but enjoyable episode I really enjoy when finally Shiroe and friends could eat the 'real' food and Akatsuki always use her cute expression.... |

I kinda already guessed NPCs had personalities (not fixed)
During episode 3's bandit hijacking the wagon. Remember, the 2 NPC girls (that gets taken advantage of) had feelings and was actually scared. If they were "true NPC" they would had no feelings and would just do what the game programs them to do. |

In any case, how wonder how will he react to the twins' situation? In here, who should be blamed? The twins' decision in joining Hamelin, Shiroe's reluctance to contact them or both?

It's quite strange that the low level players are all shown as very young characters (except Akatsuki, I guess). Perhaps the game has a real-time aging system, so new characters are all very young and more experienced characters are older.

Nah, more likely the high-levels being older reflects the age of the game. This is an MMO that's been around for at least a decade. All the older, high level players are those who have been around for years and have pretty much grown up with the game. The low level players are often those who are new to the game, and would often be young players themselves.

Even if the game has been around for 50 years, game characters shouldn't be growing older (unless the game has an aging system). An aging system might be real time: 1 real-time month spent equals 1 game year. Or it may be based on level: level 1-30 characters are pre-teens, level 31 to 60 are late teens, 61 to 90 are young working-age adults.

We're not really sure, but the books DO note that the passage is time is accelerated compared to the real world -- Shiroe is actually 98 years old in-game for example -- though there's little if any noticeable effect on adventurers.
But yeah, beginners seem to be universally portrayed as teens or pre-teens even in the spinoffs, which does make sense if we go with the usual stereotypes for long running MMOs.
