Shohei Ohtani is Lost in Paradise

Shohei Ohtani is one of the highest-profile Japanese players to join Major League Baseball. He both hits and pitches, unheard of in the US game. He has been with the Los Angeles Angels since 2018, when he won Rookie of the Year. A succession of injuries and the COVID-shortened 2020 season have kept him out of the limelight in the past couple of years, but in his debut on April 4th, he gave up one earned run in 4 2/3 innings, struck out seven, and hit a 450-foot home run!

Perhaps this performance was stimulated by Jujutsu Kaisen. He has been using "Lost in Paradise" as his walk-in song since the season began.

In a post-match interview, Ohtani was questioned about why he decided to change his walk-in song to "Lost in Paradise feat. AKLO," to which he stated that he looked forward to watching the Jujutsu Kaisen anime every week. He also said that he thinks that the show is very engaging.

Not because he's being paid to advertise the anime?

Who knows? Officially it's just because he's a big fan of the show.

Why the Babe Ruth comparisons are not entirely out of line.

Forget the Babe - the real comparisons are to Shigeno Goro, the two-way phenom from Japan who threw 102 and signed with Anaheim.
