Carrie Fisher dead at age 60

Carrie Fisher: Star Wars actress suffers heart attack

I hope she recovers well. We don't need another tragedy for 2016.

As if this year was not already tragic enough, she didn't make it.

First Erik Bauersfield in April, then Kenny Baker in August, and, today, Carrie Fisher has departed from this world.

2016 has been a relentless year for musicians and actors.

Terrible losses to the SW original trilogy:
Peter Cushing (R.I.P. August 1994)
Sebastian Shaw (R.I.P. December 1994),
Sir Alec Guiness (R.I.P. 2000)
Jason Wingreen (R.I.P. December 2015)
Erik Bauersfield (R.I.P. April 2016)
Kenny Baker (R.I.P. August 2016)
Carrie Fisher (R.I.P. December 2016)

Princess Leia will be remembered by us the fans when Episode VIII comes out within a year.

And, now adding to the roster Peter Mayhew whom passed away in April.
Peter Mayhew (R.I.P. April 2019)

Deep condolences .

And regarding Star Wars, it’s too bad that JJ Abrams and the writers didn’t put Leia, Han & Luke on-screen together for the last time when they still had the chance. Now Han’s character is dead and Leia’s actor has passed away too. They might try to force-ghost them at the end of SW9 but the feeling won’t be the same as seeing them actually reunited.

Well.... damn. She lived a good life though, and that's what matters. Eternal light bless her soul.

I'll tell you this: I watched Rogue One for the first time on Tuesday the 20th, just 3 days before she had the heart attack. When I will re-watch Rogue One and see the CGI render of the younger Princess Leia's face, either at the theater or on blu-ray, it will be haunting.

As Han Solo once said: "I just got a funny feeling. Like I'm never gonna see her again". It is that feeling for all of us now.

RIP and condolences to her family. They are the ones hurting the most after all.

It's sad that yet another well known person passes before 2016 is over.

The funny thing is that I read somewhere Disney had planed for Leia to have much bigger roles in next two movies.

While episode 8 is mostly done I do wonder how will her death impact storytelling in episode 9.

This year has been horrible as far as celebrities are going, let's hope 2017 will be better in that regard.

Well, regardless of what people may have thought of it in Rogue 1, if Leia really was to play an important role in episode 9 that they can't change or have another character fill in for, they could always go for the CG face.

Personally I think they should do that regardless of Leia's role in episode 9 to honor Carrie Fisher and her character, to show that she can't be replaced.

You should change that word into something appropriate with the condolence situation.
i know you referred for the irony of the situation but that too far to labelled with "the funny thing is".

*facepalm*

"The funny thing is" is just a saying and is no way insulting, uncaring, or in any way is inappropriate. You're the one and only person in my whole life who ever tried to say there's anything inappropriate with that line.

The real "funny thing" here is that I just pointed out in another thread on this forum that the members here are getting into the habit of pulling out weird, twisted messages from innocent lines and sayings and making an issue of it. Less than a day later, you do this. You want to be respectful to Carrie Fisher, don't use her thread to start up a problem out of nothing.
