Tatsuya has returned to his daily life, with some of his friends still being angry with him about the “kidnapping” incident. But since there was misunderstandings and a lack of communication, the whole incident just seemed to pass by.

Nothing mentioned in preview that his friends was still being angry with them.

The magic used was Thunderclap Tower, however the user announced by the GAU was not Liu Yunde, but a girl named Liu Li Lei. This was attracting a lot of attention due to the fact that there is now another nationally recognized strategic class magician.

It is mentioned that Yunde has disappeared and hasn’t been seen for over a year. While the GAU has tried to keep the information surrounding Yunde a secret, it couldn’t be hidden completely. Tatsuya knew that Liu Yunde had died in “Scorched Halloween”.

They believe that this Liu Li Lei is here to replace Liu Yunde. Revealing another strategic class magician is a form of deterrent for the GAU. Izumi asks if this was used as a way to restrain France and also a demonstration for the rest of the world.

At their favorite coffee shop, Leo and Erika joins them with the main topic still being the strategic class magic used in Africa. Tatsuya gives the same information and explanation again to Leo and Erika.

They discuss the age of Liu Li Lei and that she is only 14 years old. Within an hour of the first report, the GAU gave a detailed report of their new strategic class magician. The main content condemned the inhumane acts of the armed groups in Africa and they appealed for the legitimacy for the use of Thunderclap Tower. And it named her as the newest “apostle”.
Erika seemed a bit irritated and surprised that a girl this young was being outed and announced to the world. They were all surprised at how easily the GAU gave up the information about Liu Li Lei. Tatsuya throws in a comment suggesting that he isn’t fully convinced that she is the magician responsible for Thunderclap Tower. Erika guesses at his speculation that maybe she is being exposed as a symbol for morale for her country.

Liu Li Lei backstory seems to be a young girl who wants to succeed her grandfather. And once again they are unsure if she really is his granddaughter, but it was included in the information released by the GAU.

It is said that over 800 people have died in the strategic class magic used in Africa. It is less than in the incident that occurred in South America. Tatsuya then starts to give an explanation of Thunderclap Tower.

Thunderclap tower is can be viewed simply as sending the large cloud of electricity to target region.
With Leo wondering why the casualty was far lower than Synchroliner Fusion,
Tatsuya explained to them because Thunderclap tower had other unexpected feature other than killing enemies within area. Due to continuous short-interval electricity pulse given by the cloud, it could disabling/damaging any electrical/electric-dependent equipment.

While the basic magic construction is different, if viewed from the effect, it can be said same as EMP.

As long their "re-education" didn't disable Tatsuya's ES, Aoba wouldn't interfere. What interest Aoba about Tatsuya I think is his Elemental Sight (Not that it's explicitly explained before)

Yeah that's a mistake on my part, I thought that line (自分が知り合いから大魔王扱いされたことなど知らず、達也は日常に復帰していた。) was referring to his friends, but it's referring to Kazama's discussion.

The preview only covers the first 3 parts of chapter 1, the full release is still Aug 10th

Nah. Tatsuya is Mr.Silver. Mr.Taurus is the middle-aged man, I forgot his name, in charge of hardware matter -while Tatsuya handles the software.

Tatsuya is just Mr Silver. As much as he is a genius with the software portion, he doesn't have nearly as much talent in the hardware portion. Ushiyama is Mr Taurus and handles all the hardware. Volumes 3 and 4 made a point several times about how there needed to be hardware that matches the software to work properly.

It's not really an equal collaboration, Tatsuya is the one who innovates whereas Ushiyama is expendable, yes he's one of the most talented hardware engineers but you can find a replacement for him and Tatsuya would still be able to create all of his tools, Ushiyama isn't doing anything hardware wise that merits him being recognized on the level of Tatsuya.

Also after testing flying device, he knows what to do to improve the efficiency and Tatsuya concurred with his assertion.

I'm not arguing he's bad at his job, my point is that Tatsuya is the one making actual magical breakthroughs whereas Ushiyama is just an extremely talented hardware engineer. If Tatsuya wasn't there Ushiyama literally wouldn't be able to produce the things he helped Tatsuya with but while it would be very hard to find a replacement for Ushiyama in the magic engineering world it's still doable, he's not in his own league really, only Tatsuya is.

What I meant in his own league is, compared to everyone except Tatsuya, because Tatsuya is practically different with his ES and magic.
