Nah, Kazama wouldn't do that. If they didn't defect this is probably a joint operation with GAA. After Scorched Halloween, GAA probably decided to stop messing around with Japan.

They must have worked a backroom deal then. In order to get a better "deal", they must join and assist the Japanese military or something like that.

When it comes to negotiation, you need leverage. What does the GAA have over Japan to make a deal of this magnitude.

The promise of peace. GAA has lost its only strategic-class magician and the major consensus of Japan's top brass is ceasing hostilities for long term stability. It is within the interest of both parties to cooperate and nothing brings two countries together better than sending men to carry out some sort of joint domestic operation.

I find this amusing since there are several lines like that. Most recently in the last volume. But, there are numerous lines one could found throughout the books.

If you simply look at his behavior in the first place, it's not normal. I have a brother and a sister and I know, his mentality concerning his sister is way different to whats normal. So really, the more important argument to make is what does "sisterly love" mean to Tatsuya himself, especially considering that he's able to be aroused by Miyuki in that way.

No, nothing is confirmed, Tatsuya still only has sibling love for Miyuki. He even lets Masaki has a date with Miyuki and doesn't feel any jealous at all.

Spoiler for summary:

-William and Edward(USNA) planned to sabotage the artificial island by ordering James and Jazz to collaborate with Bradley Chang who was a criminal from Hongkong.
-The first plan they intended to kidnap Shizuku for ransom as a diversion in order to cover the real target which was drilling holes on some kinds of floating panels used to stabilize the island.
- Bradley tried to accomplish the task and use it as a merit to negotiate with either His home country or UK/AUS.
-Lu Gunghu and Chen were sent to catch Bradley and asked for 101st’s cooperation.
-James and Jasmine infiltrated the department store on the island but was noticed by Tatsuya. At this time, Tat probably casted Gate on them. After walking away, Jame proposed the abortion of the plan but Jasmine pridefully continued.
-Lu drove into the ocean and ambushed Bradley. Lu overpowered Bradley with ease. Tat and cos(graduated year 3) also provided assistances.
-Jasmine tried to use Kanon as a hostage and asked Isori to crack the floating system in order to sink the island. The plan was derailed by Asuza.
-Jasmine tried to cast Ozone Circle by asking for Jame’s protection because using it needed excessive concentration. She failed twice due to Gate(she didn’t know the reason though).
-Miyuki, Lu and Minami appeared and revealed why she couldn’t use the magic. Miyuki claimed that the magic was called Gate Keeper which was Yotsuba’s highly guarded magic. She did it to divert attention from tatsuya.

Next time that Japan becomes an enemy. Tatsuya and Miyuki are threat for them absolutely. -Back to UK , Willam wasn't blamed for mission fail bacuse of his status as strategic class magician and then he contacted Edward clark that missio fail as they planned.

It feels like Miyuki is little by little turning into another Maya, jesus this girl literally have everyone dancing around her without noticing at all.

It feels like there isn't much content. Nothing really important seems to happen. I think the most interesting point is the gate spell and that Miyuki uses tatsuya sama instead of onii sama (according to Mediv).

Miyuki was a very passive person for a long time in the LN, always depending on Tatsuya to do something and have some influence but since the previous 2 volumes it seems like she's improving a lot and based on the summaries out there about volume 20 she's now someone with te willpower and the influence to make a lot of strong people dance around her, something like Maya who does the same but on a whole different scale.

Obviously this is how I see it, maybe I'm just thinking this too much.

Gatekeeper is Tatsuya's own magic. It doesn't use MI and it knocks out the target's MCA.
