Ougi really is an inglorious bastard isn't she? You just have to love hating her. She's like the Joker to Araragi's Batman hum? Can't wait to see what this season has in store for us (even if I'm still not down with Hanekawa's new look )

so good. so so so so good.
I like the "Who dun it?" situations, so I was at the edge of my seat for the whole time when Araragi and Ougi were stuck in the classroom trying to figure out who did it. I didn't even pause the episode to read the fast cuts, which NEVER happens when I watch Monogatari anything. And the music...oh, man. The music kept me from breathing. it was so intense. And the ending, too. Oikura's back, and I'm excited to see what happens next. WHO THE FUCK IS OUGI? WHAT IS SHE DOING? WHY IS SHE HERE? ITS LIKE SHES STARTING SHIT AND FINISHING SHIT AT THE SAME TIME. JUST WHO IS SHE. WHAT IS HER PURPOSE. And Hanekawa's hair is back to normal again? Or did she dye the white part? Or am I messing up the chronology? Or am I missing something? |

Great episode! Interesting from start to end. Can't wait to see more of Howmuch-san in the following eps >D
Only thing that bothered me a bit through the whole thing was that that the backgrounds were a bit too distracting. I think Tsukimonogatari suffered a bit from this at well but it didn't get to the point of it being actually distracting as it felt now. Also I don't know about the rest, but those red/black/insert color cut scenes are surely missed! The old style as whole to be honest... unless it means I'm not clever enough and missing an actual real meaning behind it, I can't help but feel it was a wrong decision to change it after all these years. |

The conversation is really entertaining and actually engaged you like how a proper mystery is. Though I didn't like how there was a homeroom teacher suddenly and her being the culprit but then again, they did add in hints and subtle lines to indicate she was there all along like how Araragi's seat was taken and one student mentioned that the maths teacher would benefit the most. OP and ED songs are pretty good too.

Absolutely brilliant. I am not one who normally enjoys this kind of mystery, but it was so well done, and actually had a pretty simple psychology behind it, when we finally circled in on it. So I enjoyed the intellectual and psychological movement, but it was the sound and animation and rhythms/pacing that made this episode so good, for me.
As usual, I simply did not find the Shaft/Shinbou backgrounds "distracting." But maybe that's because for me, they are a foreground. The complex backgrounds in this episode may be the best even Shaft/Shinbou have done. Even at moments (not many) when the dialogue was beginning to lose me, the backgrounds kept me enthralled. And Ougi.... Mizuhashi Kaori's performance was superb. She does that Shinbou rush of words so well. And the way they animated blank-eyed Ougi insinuating herself further and further into Araragi's personal space was so strong, so psychological, so physical. The ED was terrific, too, for me. Both the animation and, especially, the music, written and sung by someone I don't know, Takigawa Arisa 瀧川ありさ (Sony artist homepage, official blog). Not as brilliantly extreme as either Sayuri さユり or Koeda こゑだ, but also a new singer/songwriter I will now be following. EDIT: Two more things to praise: Inoue Marina as Oikura. That wound-tight resentment, even panic. And Mizuhashi Kaori's singing in the OP.

This is better than expected. Also a great idea to make it a 1 hr special less the tension gets diluted. Can't leave the classroom without finding the culprit ne? Still don't get Ougi not to mention that she constantly creeps me out, but I guess the good thing is I'm looking forward to finding it out more than before. Oikura's return next week gonna be interesting just to see how things have changed or not changed?

Monogatari is back in full force yet again. I had no idea the first episode would be a one hour special so at some point, I started wondering why this episode felt so long haha. Making it a one hour special was actually a brilliant idea. I felt like I was stuck with Araragi in that classroom and couldn't get out until I found out who the culprit was.
Ougi is still creepy as all shit. It's obvious she knew everything and was the one who created that classroom. Who the hell is she?

Damn this episode gave me chills.
Spoiler for Koyomi:
Spoiler for Oikura:
I got to remember not to take the bias of a single perspective too seriously. But that's why I love Nisio Isin's writing style.

2nd best. And in a way, Oikura had it coming. Majority vote was her idea, and she tried to scape goat Araragi. Hoist by her own petard. Heck, the witch hunt was her idea, too.
I wonder if he takes his studies seriously again, though, after graduating from high school? Quote:
