The story takes place in the year 2020, just three years after the events of .hack//G.U.. The story will take place not only in the new version of "The World" known as "The World R:X" but in the real world as well. The lead character is a middle school student named Tokio Kuryuu. He lives a normal life as a gamer until a mysterious girl named Ayaka Amagi transfers to his school.

...I found this manga is no more than a badly drawn doujin, like most .hack manga that has been published. They... just toss in random silly stuff without bothering with continuity or explanation.

Spoiler for up to chp 3: the thing i like about this is the fact the older players from the previous Worlds Tsukasa to Haseo will most likely make an appearance as they are the key in this new story. and i was actually going to give up reading thinking it is another "new main character shows up, the World gets buggy, he or she saves it and everything is back to normal" until I saw Kite in the very first chapter! of course not to mention Tsukasa at the end of Chp 3. i did not expect him to still play, of course he seems to be going bored with his monster PKing everyone for fun Spoiler for if it wasn't for this page, I would have said GOODBYE and wait a year to read this manga again:
