I don't think so, this go way back to WWII.

A very popular series like Kimetsu no Yaiba also did change MC's rising sun for the same reason.
They can't just simply risk a big market like the chinese one that makes over 60% of their consumers

To be fair, in the Japanese version it remains the same as the original in the anime, only the Chinese and Korean versions have been changed. But it seems that in this particular case all versions will be changed, huh?
