I know nothing about Fairy Gone other than the premise so I won't/can't comment on those references... But I'm very pleased to see this get adapted. It's one of a tiny handful of manga that caught my eye in the past few years. And I feel pretty content with MAPPA handling it.

It will not be an Netflix exclusive: https://katsu-kami.com/onair/
Of course, there are still chances of the series to be broadcast on Netflix, but chances are very small since normally only the series that get exclusive streaming in Japan by Netflix also take that treatment here. And fortunately this will not happen with this anime since in Japan the FOD will have the exclusive right of streaming. |

Totally surprised that Maybe has finally returned to his dark fantasy roots. (To the "uninitiated", Maybe has been doing dark stories like this as an illustrator before he shifted into lighthearted stories like Mankai Otome and, eventually, Tasogare Otome x Amnesia and Kekkon Yubiwa Monogatari.) Well, the development of the story of Kekkon Yubiwa is also approaching a more serious tone, so it was only a matter of time until Maybe wanted something that's more gritty.
Netflix-exclusive though... good luck with the subtitles on that.
