Adapting material from Urusawa requires things to be pretty damn good. Trailer is promising. Going to be a busy season for me at this rate.

I got a bit emotional watching that trailer. Partly because the wait has been so long and it’s finally happening, but also thinking about everything Maruyama sacrificed to make this happen - forming two new studios basically for this express purpose, desperately seeking funding, single-handedly beating the drum for Pluto for well over a decade. He’s basically devoted the climax of his career to making this happen, and it finally is.

If only someone had been able to do that for Satoshi Kon's dying wish too. But honestly, getting one more Urusawa adaptation is very welcome. The thought that soon his career might not even be acknowledged by newer given how the access to anime/manga history in the 2010s is being shut, it hurts. But at least we get to see it?

Do we know if they're going to release episodes weekly or the entire thing at once? I'd definitely prefer the former.

Sign me up for that, too. I don’t like binge viewing and it kills discussion of anime particularly. But I haven’t heard one way or the other.

I'm 90% sure it's going to be six hour-long episodes released at once.

Well, it’s 8 hour-long episodes for starters…

Not familiar with the works from this author or Astro Boy; how will this impact my enjoyment of this series?

Okay, good to know. Not sure of the story, but it looks cool, so hopefully it'll be an enjoyable experience for me =03.

So I've heard. I may try Monster since it was put onto Netflix recently. Nothing but great things said about it.

My goodness. I'm almost speechless after that first episode.

My expectations and my fears were wildly divergent, but this met the former. Wow.

Aaaaaand they released the whole thing at once. Goodbye, discussions.

It's kind of a long watch so it will have to wait until after I'm done with Alan Wake II. I want to give it my full focus.

First episode was amazing. The Gesicht part of the story was okay, but the Paulo/North part got me teary-eyed. When the cop was disheartened about the loss of his bot-partner, the weight of the loss could not be truly felt with only what was shown. I was taken aback when the story sudden cut to Paulo and North, but MAN... by the end, it brought me ALL the way back to 1995, where I would shed my first tear for an anime at the hauntingly beautiful Presence(Robot Carnival) on the Sci-Fi channel. Yeah, if you've seen it, then you know why. The moment when Paulo finds out what his mother did for him while he harbored such intense hatred... OMG, such a powerful moment. My vocabulary isn't poignant enough to describe that climatic, empathetic moment in the story, but it moved me very much.

Somehow, I don't feel that the main story will move me like the latter story , but certainly the show is off to a really good start =03!

Without any knowledge of the story, I am surprised that Atom Boy shows up at end of episode 1. I forgot what the story of Atom Boy, but I remember it was an entertainment anime.
