It's over. I can safely say this is one of the worst anime I've seen. Even the ending was horrible. It makes everything feel pointless.

At least Natsuko was entertaining.

Well, I at least thought it was nice of them to put the lot of them in Paradise; I guess there's supposed to be a God higher than whatever devilish creature came up with this game, and He wouldn't let someone who'd suffered that much pay.

I did think Natsuko's final reveal was interesting, even if it wasn't all that well executed and took place in a series where such things couldn't be appreciated. So she wasn't actually completely insane or legitimately wishing to die even if it took everyone else's death. She just pushed herself to that in order to withstand the despair, told herself at some point what he'd told himself at the start when he decided not to kiss her: that everyone would be better off dying as quickly as possible than living with false hope. This gives an interesting perspective to her behavior. People laughed on multiple occasions about how over-the-top and crazy she was, but perhaps a lot of that was because she was desperately trying to look like a crazy psychopathic villain, and being just a high school girl without that much acting experience this was the best she could do. That and her deliberately pushing herself to method-act, to force herself into a mindset that by seeing herself as the villain who'll kill everyone to survive herself she's helping them to get it over with more quickly. Again, not so well-executed, and it happened in a show where there was no way to do it well or have it taken seriously or have it carry any real weight, but still an interesting character concept.

How was this story even approved to be published, let alone produced into an anime? In what weird twisted f'ed up world do these characters live in where they couldn't get outside help from non game players? Like, their parents, teachers, police, medical, or IT professionals?

I guess we all griped at how bad it was, but admittedly, we ended up watching all 12 episodes just to whet our curious appetites and to see how much more insane and low the characters become.

Oh well, now that it's over, it's time to move on.

In the very first King's Game that was mentioned in the anime, the town's people who got caught up in it had outside help, and it still didn't do them any good.

It got several manga adaptations and now an anime. It wasn't unreasonable to expect it to be somewhat decent. And it's not just the story, the animation was awful too. But I guess that part makes sense, it's amazing enough this even got an anime in the first place.

I felt bad for Riona. If this is a virus that got on the internet, then it wouldn't have died even if the kids in the previous games all died. Computer viruses do not die. Those kids should have thought about that one reality of computer viruses and the internet.

And if they had watched any movies, grudges do not die. So....there was no need for a suicide in the end.

And after all this, there's those few seconds after the ED that makes any suicide attempts for the "greater good" completely pointless. Damn, this show really didn't wanna leave us with anything. No ship, no "for the greater good", no single survivor lives on carrying the will of the others,etc.

I'd watch a 2nd season of this. The so good it's gud was just too stronk ~ prize worthy even. But leave the audience with something. Who cares if the rules are set in place and there's everyone who plays the game's doomed to die. This anime bend's rules in the most lulzy manner anyway, so it should be able to have some plot armor and deus ex machinas in order to leave one or two likeable characters standing. And holy shit, I can't believe I'm asking for that ~ the things this show makes you say man...

Still had an awesome OP though.

People can still expect a certain level of standard when money is involved in something. Flaming garbage or otherwise. I've read better random fanfiction than this and that was free.

Well, I dropped this like 5 episodes back when it just stopped being fun to make fun of it and turned physically painful to sit through. It was not even dumb good like Mayoiga. My sympathies to rest of you who shoulder on and survived.

This show would have actually been better if the flashbacks were the main story. The reveal of a now computer virus having omega mutant hypnotic powers would have still been shit, but everything else would have been better IMO.

Have yet to finish watching it just some things:

The main issue with htis is still the high amount of flashbacks, combined with the fact that they changed certain things, such as the message.
Since its over now I no longer have any qualm releasing the message btw, and also the reason why I opened up a 'Chiemi = Natsuko' theory earlier on. The following are spoiler tags contain source material comparisons:

But it's so so bad, you go past the funny line and get genuinely worried about the person who wrote this story. Everything, I mean everything, was so shallow, random, and unbelievable. On fire with no reaction? The ability to live past chainsaw wounds? Sudden love? Sudden insanity? And even if you try to "All is well if it ends well" line, the problem here is that despite everyone dying, it starts again. So everyone died for no reason. Even Riona. That's so stupid, I can only laugh at the idiocy of the entire thing. And... and heaven? Seriously? And the crazy girl that screwed over so many people is just smiling and acting nice towards you? Hah?! Oh, and that's ignoring the impossibleness of the entire thing. Yeah, I'm sure a virus did all of this. Yeah.............................................. ........... Sure.............................................. ............................. facepalm But let's think positively. Normally, something so impossible being the mastermind of everything would ruin the anime. But this anime is so bad in so many ways already, it has no effect! Anyways, I guess it was funny and Riona was kinda cute, but it was disasterously bad. An extreme bad beyond bad. I'd like to say that it was at least better than those hyped super-bad anime like Guilty Crown, but this was even worse than those anime. And that's saying a lot. Please note, that the first Manga names Natsuko as Chiemi's mother, rather than her sister, so this might just be an oversight on the author's part when he wrote the second novel. The message being not readable is imho just the animes way of covering up that screwup. Spoiler for The village: The shite in the gym storage room never happened like that in the Manga. The actual setting of that scene was in the village where the original game took place. (To be more specific, the scene took place in the lab of Chiemi's mother) Spoiler for Chiemi's Manga death: In the manga, Chiemi literally just died. The last command was to kill the other remaining survivor. However, the two of them refused to kill each other and decided to fight the autosuggestion in their minds instead. (i.e. overwriting it) Before the time was up,Chiemi suddenly died and Noubaki got a win message. Chiemi never comitted suicide to save him. - The The only cause of death I can imagine here is blood loss. Afterwards the Manga shows the moment when Noubaki asked Chiemi out, as if he had suddenly rewound time back to that moment. There is however still the possibility, that Noubaki's memory got altered. __________________ Those who forget about the past are condemned to repeat it - Santayana Sidenote: I'm seemingly too dumb for my current keyboard, so if you see the same character twice in a row, when it doesn't belong there just ignore it.
