omoi is in dire need of a committed encoder.
Expected abilities:
Short ~2 minute clips with hardsub karaoke. Clean sources. Timewise... randomness. Last month I karaoke'd 3 such projects, and I'm finishing the second one of this month today (to illustrate the workload). omoi's aim is to promote promising eroge/visual novel productions. I usually get lots of help from friends and fansubbers alike, but I wish to put my future projects under one brand... make it a bit more official, so to speak. Past projects were done under different brands. I hate fansubbing credits in video, just so you know there's not an ounce of internet fame in doing this. :3 IRC channel: #omoi @ Rizon Contact: Kana/Kagami/Nanaka/ly etc. Filled for now. Once in a blue moon...
Position: Translator Group: Saizen Fansubs Projects: Major 3rd, Ashita no Joe IRC Channel: #saizen^recruits, #saizen IRC Contact: AMS, Scab E-Mail: saizen.recruits@gmail.com Our Major 3rd translator retired earlier this year, so we could really use some help finishing up the last few episodes (18-26). If you're up for it, the project group is also interested in continuing with Major 4th. Ashita no Joe is a project we've been trying to get off the ground for a while now and we have a dedicated group of people on the starting blocks -- just waiting for a translator to come along. We have scripts for the first 5 episodes, but are obviously looking for someone who could take us through the entire show. If either of these positions look interesting to you, we're in #saizen^recruits on irc.rizon.net. Last edited by Scab; 2007-11-11 at 17:00. |

Gwi Afx Tutorials
To improve the quality of ongoing fansubs, we've decided to host After-Effects tutorials weekly that will ameliorate fansub typesettings with the introduction of After-Effects. Please check back this post for further announcements.
We are hosting a 2-3 hours tutorial session from 2PM to 5PM PST, so make sure you attend the class promptly. Make sure you have Adobe After-Effects CS3 as well as other auxillary programs like Adobe Photoshop installed. Syllabus (Under Development) Instructors: b0nk & pichu Time: 2:00PM to 5:00PM GMT-8, PST Location: #GWi-AFX @ irc.moo.vc (Rizon) Office: #GWi-AFX @ irc.moo.vc (Anytime) Contact: pichu[at]pichu.org Introduction: With the power of After-Effects, you can create breathtaking typesettings for the signs you could have never done so with substation alpha. The basic steps include: make signs in after-effects, render your creations to RGBA 32-bit colorspace (Red, Green, Blue, and Alpha) AVI, and then use them in avisynth to frame-serve to the final encode. For simplicity purpose, we suggest you to download this AVISynth script: http://pichu.org/Signs_Overlay.avsi - after which you have installed AVISynth 2.57+ from http://avisynth.org . [Signs] [11/5/2007] Introduction of Extending Signs in Photoshop and its use. Preview of text matching. [Signs] [11/13/2007] Getting used to After-Effects' Interface. Basics of Text Matching. (colors, grains, glows, blurs, sharpens/halos, and fonts) Preview of Positioning in AE. Last edited by pichu; 2007-11-13 at 12:27. |

Looking for Willing Recruits!!!
First of all I'd like to say that we are a new fansub group, but that doesn't necessarily mean we haven't done this before. Anyways, we're looking to recruit some people that are interested in working on an anime that no groups seem to have an eye for doing.
Positions Needed: Karaokers, Typesetters, Distro, QCers, Editors and Web Designers Project: Himawari!! Group: LostTreasure-Fansubs IRC Channel: #LostTreasure-Fansubs IRC Contact: MurderousAngel Email: princessofdeath3904@yahoo.com (you can also contact me on the channel or here to ask any questions that you'd like.) We're still getting things situated so hopefully that doesn't discourage anyone from stopping by. I'm looking forward to working with all of you. Last edited by LostAnimeFan; 2007-11-19 at 14:03. |

Positions: Just about anything, Translators
Projects: Hakaba Kitarou & Shingofumi Group: If anyone is interested, a new group could be formed, or whatever. Contact: Koroku on Rizon or jkaizer@gmail.com Both of these look amazing, and so far, no one has shown interest on the Fansub Wiki. In the hopes of getting them subbed [decently] I'm basically looking to form a team that can do 'em Would go for quality over speed, of course, but speedliness is nice. If you're interested in either of the shows, leave me a note. Enough interest and I'll make up a channel. Edit: Just to note, I'm able to do anything except translate and encode. But I don't like to do everything, so lots of people = welcome Edit2: Okay, so three people have offered to help, covering all the positions except a translator.

Interested in joining the fields of fansubbing?
Are you someone who has enjoyed fansubs for as long as you can remember, wish to one day become a fansubber, but have zero experience or reading guides/manuals just doesn't do it for you?
Well, here's your chance to join up with your friends in the world of fansubbing. A small group of fansubbers have gathered at #Dango on Rizon to offer their experiences and tips as fansubbers. If you would like to learn the fundamentals of the fansubbing process, such as Aegisub, Typesetting, Timing, Encoding and Editing, this is an one-time opportunity for you to get into the door. We will offer advice and training for basic aspects of fansubbing. The following topics will be formally supported/taught: 1. Timing 2. Typesetting 3. Karaoke 4. Editing 5. Encoding The underlying mission of this project is to introduce interested minds into fansubbing. This is for people who have little to zero previous experience, if you're an expert on a certain field or more and would like to offer help, please contact us. No AFX/Translation/YATTA help is offered by the group. Again, this is for the beginners, and there are other sources that you can use to learn these tools from. As for translation, we can't really teach you Japanese this way. If you'd like to contribute and give back to the community that you have been offering your services as a fansubber for, please don't hesitate to offer your experiences and tips of your trade. The exchange project will begin as soon as all necessary plans are drawn. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us. |

Editor looking for a job.
I'm looking for an editorial job on a current/not yet subbed older anime. My working experiance has been two years in my school's media productions crew; mainly involving the yearbook and newspaper comittee. I take my work very seriously, so I'd like to expect my peers to do the same. Also I'd like to work in a dateline environment, where everyone has a work completed as soon as it was given. If you would like to hire me as an editor, you may contact me on my email at dougo18907@yahoo.com, or my msn messenger dougo18907@hotmail.com.

Encoder for Clannad movie
Anyway, I'm a big fan of the AIR movie and Toei's animation (when they don't screw up anyway) so I'd like to offer my services as an encoder for the Clannad movie. Having a translator for it is a must (I'd prefer not to sit around when key members are missing) and I'm a bit of a quality whore if that helps. n_n
Contact me either on Rizon (don't have my PC on overnight) or this forum. Thank You

Let's try giving this a spin.
Position: Translator, karaoke effects person... thingie, encoder. (Editors and QC are fine, too, but not needed.) Group: Doriru-Fansubs Projects: Myself; Yourself (For the moment, the group is too small to tackle more) Contact: Mail (Or add to MSN) NiftyStudios@hotmail.com, Veilhart@gmail.com Info about us: We're a new group starting out (Planning to ''debut'' when the new season starts with a site and all the other flashy things), and are currently subbing Myself; Yourself to have some content out when the time comes to go live. Translating-wise, we have one, but he's unsure about his skills, so a second translator for insight (And the reading bits) would be a huge help. (It's not our top priority in general, but the translator deems this part most important.) Karaoke we have no one to do, so that would DEFINITELY be a great asset, and we do have an encoder, but he only encoded a couple of times in his life, so a more experienced person would be great. We have editors, quality checkers and a timer, but those are always open, of course. (After all, the more people, the more shows we can tackle) We value quality above speed (Though, the aim is to get the episode out the same week, of course.), and most importantly, we do shows we enjoy and aren't aiming to be the first out there to release episode x. For the future we only plan to do Major Season 4, and the .Hack OAV coming out in January; of course, this isn't set in stone, but the group is small now, so we're keeping it small for now. Group: Ureshii
Project: GHOST HOUND Position: QCer: 1-2 IRC: #ureshii@irc.rizon.com Contact: PM in here or IRC, one of my nicks is not stable so try both, Emtee, Blue_Mage Never hurt to have more QCers, we normally take 3 QCers/1ep. We are asking for the HQ hunters, yet those who do the job in a timely manner. Experience is a must, worked with respected group is a must too. If you know a ureshii staff who you think would highly recommend you, then that would be a plus! You will be joining another 5 QCers assigned to this project. We normally do a QC encode and take the first 3 reports, editor go over them and apply accordingly. Sometimes all 5 are busy in real life the same time, so 2 days pass without any action. We will need someone who will be very reliable and report more than just typos and little grammar issues here and there. |
