Sadly that's how the society changed after incorporating culture from Garest. Status is everything in Garest as its quite a dangerous world to be living in...so Earth got caught up in the flow during the intercultural exchange and it led to this.

Well, no. Considering he lost 2 years of school he probably won't be able to follow classes at his age level. Plus he knows nothing of Garest education subjects. So he's technically worse than average. He's trying hard to catch up but it's hard.
